Revise my list for February baby

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] boy is due in a month, and I put off thinking about names hoping that something would start to sound perfect… Without all the reasons, these are names that have stuck around as possibilities for a while:

[name_m]Cormac[/name_m]
[name_m]Langston[/name_m]
[name_m]Eamon[/name_m]
[name_m]Whittaker[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]

There are some great ideas on other threads that I need to catch up on, but any thoughts on what you’d remove or add for this list?

Our last name is short and very common, so popularity is a concern for me. We’ll use a family name for the middle, so that part is much easier and not a concern. My husband feels strongly about having a one-syllable nickname. [name_f]Sister[/name_f] is [name_f]Helena[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f].

I absolutely love [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] with [name_f]Helena[/name_f]! The two fit together so well and there’s always the possible nickname [name_m]Mac[/name_m]. [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and [name_m]Mac[/name_m] would make such a cute set, in my opinion.

Other favorites from your list are [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], though [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] takes first place. [name_m]Langston[/name_m] and [name_m]Whittaker[/name_m] are nice, but they sound a little too surname-y and don’t really flow with [name_f]Helena[/name_f].

It’s all up to you though, so good luck and congrats!

[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] or [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] for me. I agree that [name_m]Langston[/name_m] and [name_m]Whittaker[/name_m] feel too surnamey with [name_f]Helena[/name_f]/[name_f]Nell[/name_f] (on our shortlist too - love it!)

[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] is my favourite of those. Although I like surname names, the others feel a bit of a stretch.

I also like [name_f]Helena[/name_f] and [name_m]Cormac[/name_m].

I love [name_m]Cormac[/name_m], [name_m]Eamon[/name_m], and [name_m]Langston[/name_m]. I agree that [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] and [name_m]Whittaker[/name_m] are best for the single syllable nicknames. But this is without knowing what the nickname would be for [name_m]Eamon[/name_m], [name_m]Langston[/name_m], and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]…?

[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] is my favorite!

[name_m]Cormac[/name_m] stands out from your list as it would be distinctive, even with a common surname, and because it comes with a perfect 1 syllable NN, [name_m]Mac[/name_m] (which is great with [name_f]Nell[/name_f]!).

Reasoning aside, my favourite from your list is [name_m]Eamon[/name_m]. I love it.

Cheers to [name_f]February[/name_f] babies! Congratulations, and good luck finding that perfect name for your little man.

Thank you, everyone! I couldn’t get the forum to load on my computer for a while, and it’s a relief to return and feel like we’ve got reasonable options. For the ones without clear one-syllable nicknames, that’s part of the reason they aren’t perfect. Both my husband and I have reservations about names that sound too surname-y, mostly because paired with our last name it starts sounding more like a finance firm than a person. But we differ on which names are too surname-y.

I really like [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] and [name_m]Eamon[/name_m].

[name_m]Eamon[/name_m] and [name_m]Cormac[/name_m]!

I love your choice of [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], but I’m not sure what you would use as a one-syllable nn.
