[name_u]Ember[/name_u] has been on my unisex list for a while.
I’ve never considered using it for a girl because I love other names, while I only like this one. Plus I can see it being misheard as [name_f]Amber[/name_f] constantly (I have a bad experience with an Amber). So I have it on my unisex list because I still admire it for any gender.
Maybe I could genuinely consider using it for a boy? It probably would still be misheard as Amber, but maybe less-so? Would this name age well?
Edit - Woke up this morning and remembered that it’s probably also likely to be misheard as [name_m]Ender[/name_m]. Generally, only book lovers would think of this, but [name_u]Halsey[/name_u] just named her child Ender, so it may be a bit more known now
I think it’d work really well. It’s a stunning name with a lot of vibrant character, and [name_u]Ember[/name_u] on a boy is very fresh compared to [name_f]Amber[/name_f] on a girl. Having said that, if you’re timid about it being confused with [name_f]Amber[/name_f] or [name_m]Ender[/name_m], you could always go for the similar [name_u]Umber[/name_u]. Though personally I think [name_u]Ember[/name_u] is great and it’ll age just as well as [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] or [name_m]Oscar[/name_m].
I’ve only known girls named [name_u]Ember[/name_u], but I think it’s fun on a boy! It may be misheard a bit, but so i’d pretty much every name at some point in my experience. I agree with @eattacosforbreakfast that [name_u]Ember[/name_u] would be a great middle for your list if the concerns as a first are too strong for you! Something like [name_m]Augusten[/name_m] [name_u]Ember[/name_u], [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] [name_u]Ember[/name_u], or [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] [name_u]Ember[/name_u] would be so cool!
@eattacosforbreakfast@ellerbea Thank you for the suggestion as a middle name, but the middle spot is definitely for an honor name, if I have a boy! I love [name_m]Augusten[/name_m] [name_u]Ember[/name_u] tho
