Reworked list

After feedback, we have decided to move on from [name]Avis[/name] on account of the car rental company by the same name. It seems to be too much of an inevitable connection. So, back to the drawing board. We are looking for flow and equal standing between the siblings’ names, in terms of being offbeat without being too ‘out there’, unexpected meets classic. We are now looking at [name]Lorcan[/name], [name]Gregor[/name] and:
[name]Beatrix[/name] (maybe nn [name]Bea[/name]) - really love, but do the prominent ‘r’ and ‘e’ sounds repeated in [name]Gregor[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name] set [name]Lorcan[/name] (less prominent ‘r’ sound, no ‘e’ sound) apart? Is [name]Beatrix[/name] too mainstream for L and G? Does [name]Beatrix[/name]'s classic sound make [name]Lorcan[/name] seem too comparatively ‘out there’?
[name]Iris[/name] - love, but is it too comparatively mainstream/familiar? Also, the same prominent ‘r’ issue as above, and the fact that [name]Gregor[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] are Greek; does this make [name]Lorcan[/name] stick out?
[name]Tess[/name] - [name]Adore[/name] [name]Tess[/name]. Would the prominent ‘eh’ sounds in [name]Gregor[/name] and [name]Tess[/name] set [name]Lorcan[/name] apart? Is [name]Tess[/name] just too familiar/ short to work with L and G? Really like the idea of all variations of more commonly used names - [name]Lorcan[/name] for [name]Lawrence[/name], [name]Gregor[/name] for [name]Gregory[/name], [name]Tess[/name] for [name]Theresa[/name].
[name]Sadie[/name] - Like how this sounds with L and G, but is it comparatively too informal? We do like how this is a variant form, like L and G, however, and it gives the set a cute, classy vibe, right? But is it ‘out there’ enough?..
Which works? Whic one is the one? x

1 [name]Lorcan[/name], [name]Gregor[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] - the fact that all of the children would have an “r” in their names would be a subtle connection. I just think that these three “look” the best together!
2 [name]Lorcan[/name], [name]Gregor[/name] and [name]Tess[/name] - [name]Tess[/name] is a little nicknamey but I do like it with the boys names.
3 [name]Lorcan[/name], [name]Gregor[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name] - The name spelled with an “x” has the same spunky vibe as L & G.
4 [name]Lorcan[/name], [name]Gregor[/name] and [name]Sadie[/name] - Ok but not ideal

What about [name]Aviva[/name] to sub in for [name]Avis[/name] (which really is a lovely name)?

I do like [name]Lorcan[/name], [name]Gregor[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name] together quite a bit. As [name]Mischa[/name] recommended, [name]Iona[/name], [name]Carys[/name], [name]Nola[/name], and [name]Maeve[/name] would be fantastic as well!

First off, I adore your boys names! Secondly, I love the “r” connection in each of the names. I agree with [name]Mischa[/name] that [name]Beatrix[/name] is a wonderful name, and it matches your boys names beautifully. My second favorite match is [name]Iris[/name].
I seem to be late in giving my opinion here, but when I saw the name [name]Avis[/name] I did NOT think of the car rental company. I thought “oooh, pretty!” Hayleysaunt’s suggestion of [name]Aviva[/name] is a good one, too. Best of luck in naming your little one!

Thanks [name]Mischa[/name], I would just wonder whether Beartix takes the sibset into more mainstream/classic territory and therefore makes [name]Lorcan[/name] seem too obscure? [name]Gregor[/name], I feel, could go either way (obscure or classic). Would [name]Beatrix[/name] make the set too familiar for [name]Lorcan[/name]? Put another way, is [name]Lorcan[/name] too obscure to be paired with [name]Beatrix[/name]?

Kath, I absolutely love [name]Iris[/name] with [name]Lorcan[/name] and [name]Gregor[/name]! [name]Iris[/name] actually reminds me of [name]Avis[/name], as they are both nature names.

Would [name]Ivy[/name] work?? Or possibly Ivie…

Yes, I think [name]Ivy[/name] works. [name]Lorcan[/name], [name]Gregor[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you have a mn in mind?

No, not yet. [name]Just[/name] focussed on the first name for now. Not sure if [name]Ivy[/name] is obscure enough.

[name]Hi[/name] Kath, I think you may be putting too much emphasis on the classic/mainstream/obscure nature of your sibsets. Yes, [name]Lorcan[/name] is more uncommon than the classic [name]Beatrix[/name] but I think that [name]Gregor[/name] isn’t that common either (this form is not as well-known as [name]Gregory[/name]). I think you should focus on: (1) finding a name you and your DH love and (2) does the name look and sound good with L & G? I know so many parents who choose classic names for the girls and then pick something more unusual for their boys (or vice versa). I love [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name] with your boys’ names for different reasons: [name]Iris[/name] is vintage and I like the “r” connection between the children. [name]Ivy[/name] is sweet and spunky and the “y” in the name just looks good with L & G. Personally, I do think these two-syllable names are the best “fits” with your sons. As far as [name]Beatrix[/name] is concerned, the name and spelling is more classic and mainstream but then again [name]Lorcan[/name] is a form of [name]Laurence[/name] and [name]Gregor[/name] is a form of [name]Gregory[/name] so I don’t think it’s a big issue.

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Mischa[/name]

Yes, now that I really consider it I know a lot of families whose taste differs from obscure to classic depending on the gender they are naming. That makes me feel better, thanks.
I think we are closing in on [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name]. Which would you pick of these two? x

I would go with [name]Iris[/name], I’m afraid that [name]Ivy[/name] is going to jump up in popularity because of [name]Beyonce[/name] and [name]Jay[/name]-Z’s baby.

Yeah, that occured to me too. But [name]Ivy[/name] is just her middle name, isn’t it…?

I personally love [name]Iris[/name] with [name]Gregor[/name] & [name]Lorcan[/name]. The name [name]Isis[/name] did pop into my head right after reading your first post. It seems to fit in really well with [name]Gregor[/name] & [name]Lorcan[/name]–[name]Gregor[/name], [name]Lorcan[/name], & [name]Isis[/name]… It is not too ‘out there’/popular in my opinion, and actually is quite close to both [name]Avis[/name] and [name]Iris[/name], it seems like a perfect blend, actually! : )

Thanks, but I’ve never been particularly keen on [name]Isis[/name] for some reason.
[name]Lorcan[/name] [name]Gregor[/name] [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Lorcan[/name] [name]Gregor[/name] [name]Ivy[/name]
Can’t decide which is better. [name]Ivy[/name] has family significance for us. Are any of the varant spellings of [name]Ivy[/name] ([name]Ivey[/name], [name]Ivie[/name]) considered legitimate?

I love [name]Iris[/name], and [name]Beatrix[/name] too. [name]Ivy[/name] just isn’t as great as either.

[name]Gregor[/name], [name]Lorcan[/name] & [name]Beatrix[/name] is an amazing sib set

[name]Lorcan[/name], [name]Gregor[/name] and [name] Saige [/name]? [name]Do[/name] the repeated G’s throw the balance off? x

bumpbumpbump

I love both [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name] but I slightly prefer [name]Iris[/name] with [name]Lorcan[/name] and [name]Gregor[/name]. You can always take both names to the hospital with you and decide when you meet your daughter.
