What do you all think of the name [name]Dean[/name]? My sons are [name]Rex[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] and [name]Troy[/name] [name]Michael[/name]. As you can see we like short, strong, known names that aren’t popular. My husband actually picked both of these names. It took some convincing but he won me over. Now i love the names. We’re working on baby #3 and I’m trying to get name ideas ready. So, thoughts on [name]Dean[/name]? Middle name suggestions? Other ideas?
Normally, I’m pretty mediocre about [name]Dean[/name], but it does go together with [name]Rex[/name] and [name]Troy[/name] perfectly. I think it’d be a very solid choice.
I really like [name]Dean[/name], though many people here don’t seem to. To me, [name]Dean[/name] is a rough-and-tumble little boy, sweet and funny who is always playing outside and getting messy!
Other 1 syllable favourites of mine are [name]Glen[/name], [name]Keith[/name], [name]Beau[/name] and [name]Lee[/name].
I feel the same as this. It actually sounds pretty perfect
I love [name]Dean[/name]. A nice shot of retro chic, and works perfectly with your sons’’ names.
Ditto! It seems a little out of place at first glance, but then you can totally see them all as a little doo-wop trio!
[name]Rex[/name], [name]Troy[/name] and [name]Dean[/name] are a great names for a trio of brothers! I like [name]Dean[/name] (but then I’m a fan of actor [name]James[/name] [name]Dean[/name]). It’s short but strong, distinguished but down-to-earth. I also like [name]Dane[/name].
Agreed! [name]Dean[/name] is not my fav, but it fits perfectly with [name]Rex[/name] and [name]Troy[/name]. There might be other choices that would work just as well, but if your instinct is for [name]Dean[/name] and hubby agrees, go for it.
Thanks for the vote of confidence everyone! I never loved the name [name]Troy[/name] but felt it sounded very nice with [name]Rex[/name] and now I absolutely can’t imagine my little guy being named anything else. The same kind of goes for [name]Dean[/name]. I really like. But I don’t necessarily love it. I think it makes a really great sib set and I know if I have a third son he would grow to fit the name quite nicely.
All of the other names we’ve discussed either seem too common ([name]Alec[/name]), too out there ([name]Ajax[/name]), or start a letter theme ([name]Theo[/name], [name]Titus[/name]).
I think I’m going to stand pat on [name]Dean[/name]. Now… Middle names?
I love [name]Dean[/name]! But…[name]Troy[/name] and [name]Dean[/name] sounds too close to [name]Tori[/name] and [name]Dean[/name]. If that doesn’t bother you, then go for it.
Totally didn’t think of that! But, I’m good with it. Thanks for pointing that out.
I would keep the classic two-syllable middle name pattern for your third son. I think mn’s beginning with a consonant avoid the problem of the “n” in [name]Dean[/name] blending into the second name.
[name]Rex[/name] [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Troy[/name] [name]Michael[/name] and brother…
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Jacob[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Richard[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Victor[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Louis[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Raymond[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Maxwell[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Geoffrey[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Francis[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Philip[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Roland[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Franklin[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Robert[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Silas[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Walter[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] [name]Peter[/name]
[name]Dean[/name] is perfect with [name]Rex[/name] and [name]Troy[/name]. It’s one of my personal favorites.
I find [name]Dean[/name] quite dated and doesn’t fit with the modern sounding [name]Rex[/name] and [name]Troy[/name]!
I really like [name]Dean[/name], and I think it works absolutely perfectly in the sibset.
I don’t mind [name]Dean[/name] but I don’t feel it goes with [name]Rex[/name] and [name]Troy[/name]. I personally think something like [name]Cole[/name], [name]Kai[/name], [name]Drake[/name], [name]Asa[/name], [name]Finn[/name] or [name]Eli[/name] would fit a lot better.
Thank you for this list, [name]Mischa[/name]!
I’m really happy to see some on the names you paired with [name]Dean[/name], as they have meaning for us. As do [name]Thomas[/name] and [name]Michael[/name].
[name]Richard[/name]- just two weeks ago my dh’s Uncle [name]Richard[/name] died unexpectedly
[name]Lawrence[/name]- one of my Uncles and a name I have always loved but DH thought was too long for a first name
[name]Victor[/name]- my fathers name, and my side of the family has yet to be represented in our children’s names
[name]Joseph[/name]- one of my grandfathers names
[name]Francis[/name]- my father’s middle name.
Looks good!! Other thoughts if dean isn’t successful :
[name]Joel[/name], [name]Chad[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Luca[/name], max (perhaps too close with rex), [name]Dale[/name], [name]Harvey[/name], [name]Finn[/name], [name]Dane[/name]
All would go with [name]Richard[/name], [name]Lawrence[/name], [name]Victor[/name], [name]Joseph[/name] & [name]Francis[/name]
particular faves are [name]Joel[/name], [name]Luca[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Dane[/name] & [name]Finn[/name]…
*[name]Joel[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name], [name]Luca[/name] [name]Francis[/name], [name]Noah[/name] [name]Richard[/name], [name]Dane[/name] [name]Victor[/name] , [name]Finn[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
Thank you for the ideas.
[name]Joel[/name]- not a huge fan, but I could see it going well if I had a fourth boy
[name]Chad[/name]- my brothers name
[name]Noah[/name]- too traditional and soft (dh’s words)
[name]Luca[/name]- I love this name and tried with the last child but DH said “no”
[name]Max[/name]- too popular and close to [name]Rex[/name]
[name]Dale[/name]- erm? Not my fav
[name]Harvey[/name]- last name starts with “H” so no “H” names
[name]Dane[/name]- I do like this one. Probably because its like [name]Dean[/name].
[name]Finn[/name]- we have a family friend with a [name]Finnigan[/name] nn [name]Finn[/name]
I think [name]Dean[/name] is still in the lead for me.
Wow! I had no idea that some of the names I listed hold special meaning for you! I’m sorry to hear about your loss.
