I saw this name in a book and wanted to know if anybody has heard it before? It’s very different so I was surprised to find it in the book because I also have a classmate named Reznik and I wanted to see how well-known it is or if I just happened to see it in multiple places.
I’ve never heard it before, so I did a quick Google search and found it is a name of Slavic origin meaning butcher. There is also a Czech rapper who goes by Reznik who, from a brief Wikipedia summary, does not sound like a very good namesake, although I don’t think he is very well known (I had never heard of him.)
From a purely sound/look perspective, it is a bit harsh, and the lone k (as opposed to a c or ck) at the end looks a bit choppy, but at the same time that contributes to it’s uniqueness and cool attitude. It also has multiple cool nickname options, like [name_u]Rex[/name_u] and [name_u]Nick[/name_u].
I hadn’t heard it before and couldn’t find it on namberry so I Googled it, figuring it might come up on another baby names site or something … first result was bad

okaaaaay. I doubt his parents had heard of that oh my goodness. 
Reznik feels familiar to me but I’m not sure where from
