Rhema for a boy?

I’ve toyed with this word-name (not on nameberry) for a girl, but my husband mentioned he’d be open to it as a MN for a boy too. There are boy Rhemas, or at least one (Rhema McKnight was a wide receiver for Notre Dame once, DH pointed out).

I’ve already considered [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_f]Trinity[/name_f] for a boy, so as another word-name option this is not too different: [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] Rhema.

Would you be surprised to meet a [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] Rhema as a boy? Most kids don’t even say their MN while introducing themselves, so I don’t see that being a problem for playing, and I educate them at home anyways. But I’ve always loved names that can genuinely go either way…

Rhema means God’s spoken word.

I think it’s perfectly fine for a middle. Especially if your son said it means God’s spoken word when telling people his middle name.

Thanks! Yes I can see it on a boy but def it may not balance out the unisex [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] enough. :smirk:

I like [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] Rhema a lot! A wonderful name! I think it’s masculine enough, but if you wanted something similar, [name_m]Remus[/name_m] is very handsome too!

Thank you! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is not a huge fan of that one, I had tried it already. :joy:

Yes, @jonquils, Rhema [name_m]Silas[/name_m] does sound good! Nice! We do like similar names I’ve noticed. I love the MN [name_f]Promise[/name_f] on your list.

Thanks for your honesty; I do figure that pairing it with [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] might make it slightly more of a pause. Still, since it’s a word more than a given name usually, not a dealbreaker, as you said.

Thank you! You always have thoughtful and encouraging comments.

I like [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] Rhema, unexpected but still lovely. I much prefer it to [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_f]Trinity[/name_f].

Thanks! Yes, it’s definitely a part of the developing process for me. I’m still not at all sure about the boy name option but this may make it to my final polls. :joy:
