Rhubarb

There is a mom on Tiktok who named her baby Rhubarb, I believe because she ate rhubarb in pregnancy. I do not wish to judge/comment on the individuals, solely curious what the Berries thoughts are on Rhubarb as it’s very unique!

I mean… it does sound kind of name-ish! Rue/Roo is an adorable nickname, and [name_f]Barb[/name_f] is just like the beginning of [name_f]Barbara[/name_f].

So, do I like it? No. [name_f]Do[/name_f] I think it can work as a name? Yeah, sure!

I guess there are worse options out there. I don’t find this particularly pleasant and I wouldn’t want to be named it but at least she could go by [name_u]Rue[/name_u] or [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] (or Barb).

(Lucky for my kid I didn’t do this for him…I didn’t crave anything with a remotely cute sounding name :joy:)

Doesn’t sound like persons name to me. :joy: Maybe a boy named Celery comes next hah

I mean, [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] / [name_f]Ellory[/name_f] is a pretty trendy name right now, so Celery really isn’t that crazy!

I love word/nature names but Rhubarb is not a people name to me… would be adorable on a guinea pig, but rhubarb is poisonous to them

It’s certainly eccentric, but the nicknames are grounded enough that it is certainly signaling someone high-profile, but nothing toooooo bad… right?? :see_no_evil: Not my favorite.

Ok but I kind of like the nickname potentials like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] would be adorable.

Rhubarb actually is on my guilty pleasure list! I just think it’s so cute  I’d personally never use it on a child of mine, but I kinda like when other people do! I’m not necessarily a fan of the reasoning she picked it though

I know a cat named Rhubarb, called [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]! It’s been on my GP list for a while — with its similarity to [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Barbara[/name_f], I think it’s totally usable. I think it’s kind of cute — not something I’d use, but it’s cute!

All I can think of is the famous Rhubarb Bikini (aka [name_u]Joe[/name_u] Lycett). I can’t even think of the food, only rhubarb bikini. :see_no_evil:

Ummm… atlast he can go by roo. But :flushed:

Honestly I think it has all the sounds to work as a name, I love the nn [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]

[name_f]My[/name_f] mom always joked that she wanted to name one of us Rhubarb after Grandma [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and Aunt [name_f]Barbara[/name_f]! I think it’s cute, not my style, but the kid can fall back on [name_u]Rue[/name_u], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], and honestly even Ruth/Barbara would work as a chosen alternative.

I think it’s kind of cute as a name tbh

It’s a little bit out there but I actually quite like it! I think [name_u]Rue[/name_u] as a nickname makes it feel accessible. [name_f]My[/name_f] honest opinion is that I hope it isn’t something done for attention in an influencer sort of way but that they chose it because it is a name that they love

Haha that’s sweet

It it wrong that I think it would fit even more? I mean at least you would always know not to feed it to them.

I don’t like it. [name_m]Even[/name_m] as an eccentric name, I don’t see it as appealing. I always thought the name was ugly for the food to begin with, let alone for a person. I do dislike [name_f]Barb[/name_f] for [name_f]Barbara[/name_f] too so there’s that…
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is adorable but then just use [name_u]Ruby[/name_u].
