Rhyming nicknames

I have an [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] ([name_u]Ollie[/name_u]), can I name my baby [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] ([name_f]Holly[/name_f])? They also have an older brother -iel (nn ends with s). The boys use their full first name at school but nicknames at home. [name_f]TIA[/name_f]!

I don’t think it works. [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] and [name_f]Holly[/name_f] are too close.

[name_u]Ollie[/name_u] and [name_f]Holly[/name_f] are too close for me, which is a real shame because [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] is fantastic! Would you consider a different nickname for it, like [name_u]Day[/name_u]/[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] or [name_f]Hedy[/name_f]?

I’d have to agree with pp. [name_f]Holly[/name_f] and [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] are too close.

However, [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] is so lovely! I’d probably use Liddy as a nn. [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] could also work, and it has a slight different sound than [name_u]Ollie[/name_u].

Thanks! I’m considering [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]

It really is a shame because [name_f]Holly[/name_f] is what I like about [name_f]Holiday[/name_f].

I think that really depends on your taste. Odd example maybe but the Rugrat’s characters [name_u]Phil[/name_u] and [name_f]Lil[/name_f] come to mind.

If [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] is your favorite, and you only really use nicknames at home, than it may not be a deal breaker.

But [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] and [name_f]Holly[/name_f] are more than just rhymey, they’re nearly identical, so it’s worth thinking over. I like the above suggestion of [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and if you’re thinking of [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] as a nickname I think that’s darling.

It sounds like there is an age difference plus one is a boy and one a girl, so this seems a minor issue, though I think it might be a bit much for twins.
My sister and I have rhyming nicknames and the only one who has ever had a problem with it is our younger sister who doesn’t rhyme with us. Not kidding!
