Rhys or Otis? We're totally stuck and looking for additional name ideas

We’re having a boy in [name_f]September[/name_f] and are totally stuck on finding a name. Top priority is that it’s not too common and then we love “old man” names and British/Irish/Welsh names. (This baby will be a duel US/UK citizen.) Here’s what we have on our current list (ranked from top to bottom) - does anyone have any other ideas?

[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
[name_m]Otis[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Clive[/name_m]

I also love the name [name_m]Julian[/name_m] but my husband isn’t sold plus it’s gotten super popular lately.

Thanks for the help!

I like [name_m]Otis[/name_m]! [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] are also nice.

[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m]
[name_m]Emrys[/name_m]
[name_u]Glen[/name_u]
[name_m]Gregory[/name_m]
[name_m]Griffith[/name_m]
[name_u]Gus[/name_u]
[name_m]Hugh[/name_m]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]

I love [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] with [name_m]Otis[/name_m] in second place. I think [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] would be more wearable.

My favorites are [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] and [name_m]Clive[/name_m], but [name_m]Otis[/name_m] is nice, too. My final vote would probably depend on your surname but I think I might like [name_m]Clive[/name_m] the most; it has an old Hollywood vibe to me (which I like), super handsome and underused

I love [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]! [name_m]Julian[/name_m] is nice too, but it doesn’t sound like it’s a serious contender at this point. The other names aren’t really my style.

100% [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]!

[name_m]Otis[/name_m]!!! Such an underused name.

[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]. I also love [name_m]Emrys[/name_m].

I really love your list of names, particularly [name_m]Otis[/name_m], and [name_m]Felix[/name_m]. However, if being uncommon is your main concern, I would probably go with [name_m]Otis[/name_m].

I really like all the names on your list. My order of preference would be the reverse of yours, with [name_m]Clive[/name_m] first. [name_m]Clive[/name_m] is such a cool under-used retro name! [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] is lovely but very ‘safe’ compared to the others, which could be a good or a bad thing. [name_m]Otis[/name_m] is a bit different now, but I’ve a feeling this one will gain popularity.

[name_m]Otis[/name_m] I think [name_m]Rhyse[/name_m] has gone to the girls

I love [name_m]Julian[/name_m]! But if your husband isn’t agreeable, my next favourite is [name_u]Rhys[/name_u].

I just named my son [name_m]Otis[/name_m] 8 weeks ago! We get positive comments all the time. It really suits a baby but it will grow on him too.

I think [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], [name_m]Otis[/name_m] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] are all good. Here are some other options:

[name_m]Alastair[/name_m]
[name_m]Amos[/name_m]
[name_m]Archibald[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]
[name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Leopold[/name_m]
[name_m]Linus[/name_m]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Orson[/name_m]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Ralph[/name_m]
[name_u]Roscoe[/name_u]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]

[name_m]Otis[/name_m] or [name_m]Clive[/name_m]!!!

I like [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], [name_m]Otis[/name_m] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] :)!

Are you (or your husband) English, Welsh, Irish or a mix of the three? They are very different languages and cultures. [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] is lovely but it’s very Welsh so it has no significance as a heritage name if you’re not Welsh (not that I think only Welsh people should use it - far from it!).

I would probably pick it regardless, though, because I think it’s the best on your list. [name_m]Felix[/name_m] is also wonderful but if you don’t want a popular name, probably one to avoid as in the UK it is far more popular than [name_m]Julian[/name_m].
