We’re having a boy in [name_f]September[/name_f] and are totally stuck on finding a name. Top priority is that it’s not too common and then we love “old man” names and British/Irish/Welsh names. (This baby will be a duel US/UK citizen.) Here’s what we have on our current list (ranked from top to bottom) - does anyone have any other ideas?
My favorites are [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] and [name_m]Clive[/name_m], but [name_m]Otis[/name_m] is nice, too. My final vote would probably depend on your surname but I think I might like [name_m]Clive[/name_m] the most; it has an old Hollywood vibe to me (which I like), super handsome and underused
I love [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]! [name_m]Julian[/name_m] is nice too, but it doesn’t sound like it’s a serious contender at this point. The other names aren’t really my style.
I really love your list of names, particularly [name_m]Otis[/name_m], and [name_m]Felix[/name_m]. However, if being uncommon is your main concern, I would probably go with [name_m]Otis[/name_m].
I really like all the names on your list. My order of preference would be the reverse of yours, with [name_m]Clive[/name_m] first. [name_m]Clive[/name_m] is such a cool under-used retro name! [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] is lovely but very ‘safe’ compared to the others, which could be a good or a bad thing. [name_m]Otis[/name_m] is a bit different now, but I’ve a feeling this one will gain popularity.
Are you (or your husband) English, Welsh, Irish or a mix of the three? They are very different languages and cultures. [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] is lovely but it’s very Welsh so it has no significance as a heritage name if you’re not Welsh (not that I think only Welsh people should use it - far from it!).
I would probably pick it regardless, though, because I think it’s the best on your list. [name_m]Felix[/name_m] is also wonderful but if you don’t want a popular name, probably one to avoid as in the UK it is far more popular than [name_m]Julian[/name_m].
