Rice or Rhys?

hi there!

so i’m working on a book and the main characters name is an allusion to their guide’s name (Acedia). Acedia (the guides name) is a traditional sin referring to sloth. I have my MC’s name picked out, it’s [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_u]Rice[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] question is…do I make it [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Rice[/name_u] (avarice/greed) or do I make it more subtle with [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]? I’m partial to [name_u]Rice[/name_u], if only becuase its what I started with. But what do you guys think? Subtle or not so much?

Thanks,

N. Hellfield

I like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Rice[/name_u]! With [name_f]Ava[/name_f] being a common name and [name_u]Rice[/name_u] being a word, I honestly don’t think the ‘avarice’ thing is that obvious! Great and very clever subtle connection.

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Rice[/name_u] with the hidden “avarice” nod is clever and super intriguing! I absolutely love it. I think [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] would be too much of a stretch and would lose the connection, personally. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Rice[/name_u] is a solid name—lovely!

I’m team [name_u]Rice[/name_u].
