[name_u]Rio[/name_u] (Río) is the Spanish word for [name_u]River[/name_u]. I speak some Spanish, but I’m not fluent. I don’t know if it would be awkward for a Spanish-speaker, but I think it’s interesting. It’s easy enough to pronounce and sounds good with your last name.
I should clarify! My husband is Hispanic but does not speak fluent Spanish. We both speak only a little. His parents are both completely fluent though. We do live in South [name_u]Texas[/name_u] though, where most people speak both english and Spanish.
[name_u]Rio[/name_u] sounds fun and playful, I like it. I don’t mind the two O endings with the last name, and either [name_m]Joaquin[/name_m] or [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] sounds good together with [name_u]Rio[/name_u].
That’s funny, a friend of mine named her daughter [name_u]Rio[/name_u] [name_u]River[/name_u]. I love it for a girl, but I also like it for a boy! And the surname doesn’t bother me or anything
I think its adorable, but if you’re unsure maybe just use [name_u]River[/name_u] and use [name_u]Rio[/name_u] as a nn? That would be super cute, too, and a nice blend of English/Spanish? I should mention that I’m not a native Spanish speaker but I am fluent. I don’t think that it would be awkward for Spanish speakers at all!
[name_u]Rio[/name_u] sounds really catchy with your surname, the same o endings is a non issue in your case. [name_u]River[/name_u] is ok, but I dont like it with [name_u]Piper[/name_u] as they sound too similar. [name_u]Piper[/name_u] & [name_u]Rio[/name_u] go well as sibs. Both middles sound good. Both middles would also make great firsts with [name_u]River[/name_u] or [name_u]Rio[/name_u] in the middle.
