So I think we’ve narrowed it down and I’m feeling a last minute name, although it will probably be a after he’s here decision.
[name_f]My[/name_f] only hesitation with [name_u]River[/name_u] is I have one son whose name starts with R (Rowan) but it’s not that big of a deal right? I’m really feeling [name_u]River[/name_u] and I don’t know if it’s hormones or what but I need someone to talk me down over to [name_u]Asher[/name_u] again if it’s bad haha!
Thoughts? I’ve got about 9 more weeks to think about this

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_u]River[/name_u] are very sweet together! I don’t think it’s a big deal that they have the same initial at all, I actually think they are very good for each other 
That being said, [name_u]Asher[/name_u] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] are great together too, so you can’t go wrong either way!!

[name_u]River[/name_u] is great - and since there are other kids between [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], I think the double R is fine. [name_u]River[/name_u] is earthy, bright, sleek and cool

Ahhh eek exciting 9 weeks to go!! 
I think [name_u]River[/name_u] & [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] are delightful together. Honestly both names are on my list of boys names they are just such lovely, upbeat, fun nature choices that feel relaxed outdoorsy and creative. I think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] & [name_u]River[/name_u] make a fabulous pairing and the shared initial isn’t a massive issue. Honestly yes you could find yourself pigeonholed into feeling pressure to find another r nature inspired choice for future kiddos but I think that’s only because I think in this irrational name nerd way. The reality is themes and matching sibling sets do not matter. It’s such a privilege to name a child so I strongly advise you to choose the name you love!!!
[name_u]Asher[/name_u] sounds fab with [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] as well but I do have a softer spot for [name_u]River[/name_u].

I loooove [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] as siblings, plus I personally find [name_u]Asher[/name_u] a bit too common, whereas [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] seem more equal in general popularity, if that is potentially a consideration.
I was super torn between 2 names when i had my 2nd son, so i definitely feel you. And meeting him didn’t help, lol, but I hope it does for you <3

I think repeat of letters more icky for name nerds and some parents only. Most of your kid’s life will be out in the world and not introducing their siblings to others / telling them their names. Two of my (seven) siblings have same starting letter as mine and practically no one notices! Don’t let it stop you.
Asher to me is a little more sensitive and earnest than River who seems more arty and cocksure. Both creative, handsome man names!

Thank you for the input everyone, I have been calling him [name_u]River[/name_u] in my head for a while and I think it’s the one! I definitely will wait until he is here and keep the name a surprise from family (they prefer top 80s names).

It’s funny because my husband prefers [name_u]Asher[/name_u] and I prefer river, so I know we have to meet him to truly decide. But this is.our last baby and I want to pick what I want after growing 5 of them
