My husband and I like the name [name_m]Roarke[/name_m] … but my siblings teased it hardcore. So, I’m looking for an outside opinion.
What does everyone think of the name [name_m]Roarke[/name_m] as a baby boy’s first name?

It’s different. My initial thoughts on it are indifferent. It’s not awful, but I don’t personally consider it good, either.
For some reason it makes me think of the sound a frog makes.
The nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u] could be cute, though.
if you like it, use it. It’s nobody’s baby but yours. Its certainly out there but not to the point that I think he would get bullied over it.
I’ve thought this name was cool for a while now, although I prefer the Irish spelling Ruarc. It is rather harsh-sounding, but so are a lot of names. I think people will get used to it! I’m not bold enough to use it as a first name myself, but I’d love to see a little boy named [name_m]Roarke[/name_m].
I like it! I used to live on a street called [name_m]Roarke[/name_m], and I actually know a teenager with the name as well. For that reason, it’s always seemed more common to me than it is. I think it’s a good choice!
It’s definitely different, but not completely unheard of. The only association I have with the name is this '90s movie I saw on TV one time in which [name_f]Meryl[/name_f] Streep’s character had a son named [name_m]Roarke[/name_m]. I thought it sounded cool then, and I think so now, even if it’s not really my style. I also think that [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is such a sweet nn!
I love it! It was on the list for my son and I adore the choice of [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as nickname
[name_m]Roarke[/name_m] is a unique, cool name! I like [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m], Rhone and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] too have a similar sound. Go with what you love!
I grew up in a town with a bunch of Irish heritage so it’s not entirely unusual as a name but I haven’t ever heard it as a first name. I’m more familiar with the [name_m]Rourke[/name_m] spelling which I find a bit gentler. And I agree it would be cute with the nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. I think it’d make an interesting name for a kid and a distinguished name for an adult.
I love it. I do like a lot of boys names of one syllable Orde, [name_m]Marc[/name_m], [name_m]Todd[/name_m], so [name_m]Roarke[/name_m] fits right in. I would definitely use it. Unless it became the next [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], there would not be very many around.
