I picked Matthías, but really I like them both. On a slight-spooky (for me) note, my former step-father is named [name_m]Karl[/name_m] and his son is [name_m]Matthias[/name_m], so it feels like those names go well together for me. :slight_smile: [name_m]Robert[/name_m] is nice as well; not that popular over here, but still familiar.

I think I prefer Róbert with the middle name [name_m]Karl[/name_m]. I just think it’s more handsome. But still Matthiàs is a very handsome name so i’am really a big help right now.

Since the popularity of [name_u]Matti[/name_u]'s, [name_f]Maddi[/name_f]'s, and many other variations of this spelling seems to be exclusively for girls here. I believe I would go for [name_m]Robert[/name_m], as the [name_u]Matti[/name_u]'s etc are more popular than [name_m]Robert[/name_m] is now and for several years to come.
Another thought: [name_u]Matti[/name_u]'s sounds like [name_f]Addi[/name_f]'s which is another popular group! Sounds the same to me though!

Seems like there is more options with [name_m]Robert[/name_m] (ever think of [name_m]Roberto[/name_m] pronounced like [name_f]Roe[/name_f] Bair toe?)

[name_m]Matthias[/name_m]. I find [name_m]Robert[/name_m] quite dated even though I know two young [name_m]Robert[/name_m]'s. I prefer [name_u]Matti[/name_u] to [name_u]Robbi[/name_u], I also like [name_f]Maddy[/name_f] on a boy as I know a [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] called [name_f]Maddy[/name_f] as they sound almost identical to me.

Haha, thanks for the thought, but we’re Icelandic-English. [name_m]Roberto[/name_m] is not a legal name here and also doesn’t reflect our nationalities, so it doesn’t really appeal to me. We could go super Icelandic with Hróbjartur… but that might be a bit mean on my poor family.

I sort of knew that Matthías would be more popular on here, since I know that [name_m]Robert[/name_m] is slightly dated (despite being a classic) in English-speaking countries. I just think Róbert [name_m]Karl[/name_m] looks so grown-up and distinguished, whilst [name_u]Robbi[/name_u] is an appealing option for childhood / friends and family. And it’s so instantly recognisable, everyone knows the name [name_m]Robert[/name_m], apart from the accent it really could be from Iceland or [name_f]England[/name_f], which is great for our personal circumstances.

But then Matthías is pronounced the same in both languages, it’s not a difficult name, and it definitely feels a bit cooler and fresher. So basically I love them both - perhaps I will just let my bf have the casting vote. If it even is a boy, that is. [name_f]Heaven[/name_f] knows what we’ll do if it’s a girl!
