I love [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and I love your sweet story of how you landed on their name.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite option of the ones you’ve listed is [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Talvi[/name_f]. She immediately jumped out to me. I also really like the idea of a botanical name but I’m biased (I’m a Lily!). None of the ones you’ve listed so far strike me as “the one” and I’m afraid I don’t know any Finnish to suggest new ones. But I think I would keep hunting in that direction. [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] is also a botanical name, so she could bridge your lists?

Good luck!

[name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Talvi[/name_f] is so lovely!! [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Elsi[/name_f] is nice too!! [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Aila[/name_f] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Ilona[/name_f] were some I thought of too.

[name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Tuomi are both sweet! [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Tansy[/name_f], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] came to mind

I agree with the others, I really like [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Talvi[/name_f]! [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Silvia[/name_f] is great too (or [name_f]Silvie[/name_f] / Sylvie)

[name_m]Can[/name_m] I just say firstly that [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Otso[/name_m] is so perfect I love it! Kind of hope you have a boy just for that sake lol

From your list I really like [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Helmi[/name_f] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Talvi[/name_f]! I think the -i ending really complements the consonant ending of [name_u]Robin[/name_u].

Some more Finnish names I like with [name_u]Robin[/name_u]:

[name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Suvi[/name_f] (love)
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_u]Auri[/name_u]
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Tuuli[/name_f]

I also think that the -i ending makes the combo feel very short and sweet which is ideal with the long surname situation- just my two cents.

I love the suggestion of Tuomi too as a perfect combination of botanical, Finnish and short!

I really love the idea of a Finnish middle name for [name_u]Robin[/name_u]. Your boy options are absolutely amazing. But obviously if you aren’t convinced, go with what makes you happy.

I love [name_f]Helmi[/name_f]. I loved it from the first time I saw it. It feels like a perfect option to cross cultures. [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Helmi[/name_f] sounds very cultured and intellectual.

[name_f]My[/name_f] second choice would be [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]. As the previous poster noted, it fits both categories, which seems perfect. If it’s not speaking to you, that’s fine too though.

I really enjoy [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Talvi[/name_f] as well. I feel like it shares the same qualities as [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Otso[/name_m] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Ilmari.

And I am sorry to hear your wife isn’t on board with [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Minttu[/name_f] or [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Ruusu! Both of those are so fun.

Because you love [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Ilmari for a boy I do have to wonder, have you considered [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Ilmatar, [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Ilmi[/name_f] or [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Ilma[/name_f]?

I love the idea of a botanical middle name as well, for the Iiris connection
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] Asteri
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] Liila
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Alida[/name_f] (a type of iris)
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] Ensata (Japanese iris)

Admittedly, I know very little about Finland and Finnish names/words. Any Finnish names I suggest are what I’ve found online, so please correct any mistakes.

I have one more slightly rogue idea: [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Siri[/name_f]
[name_f]Siri[/name_f] is [name_f]Iris[/name_f] backwards. I think it is such an amazing name. Obviously the voice assistant software has mostly taken over the name, but I wonder if as a middle name it wouldn’t be such a big deal?

I feel like this is the essence of nameberry. I’m glad to hear you’re gaining inspiration, and excited to find out what you ultimately decide on!

I love [name_f]Aava[/name_f] from your list. The meaning is spectacular and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Aava[/name_f] works well. The first ones not on your list that came to mind were [name_f]Elvi[/name_f], [name_f]Ilma[/name_f] and Vanamo.

Thank you, [name_u]Shelly[/name_u]! Aava’s meaning and the v sound make it really appealing to me as well - I guess my only concern is the similarity to [name_f]Ava[/name_f] / it getting confused with [name_f]Ava[/name_f] but in the middle that’s probably not a big deal. I also really like Vanamo and the fact that it’s the Finnish alternative to [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], which is more of a Swedish name. I’ll always have a soft spot for [name_f]Elvi[/name_f] as well , but I’ve recently bought an [name_f]Elvie[/name_f] breast pump so that association bothers me a little now.
