Roman? Clementine?

[name]Hi[/name],
What is your opinion about [name]Roman[/name] for a boy and [name]Clementine[/name] for a girl? It’s my first and I would want to give my child (don’t know the sex yet, it would be easier to look for names though) a bit of international name, something classy (but not too classy), something that goes well when he/she is young but also for when he/she is adult,… you know the criteria  Any thoughts?

I really like [name]Roman[/name]! Not a fan of [name]Clementine[/name] it’s too cutesy, fruity (literally) and I have trouble picturing it on an adult. I prefer Clémence and think it works better especially when it comes to international flair.

I like them both, but am more keen on [name]Clementine[/name] than [name]Roman[/name]. [name]Clementine[/name] is one of my favorite girls’ names-- it has the same sentimental and spunky feeling as [name]Madeline[/name], but is a little less common. Some other possibilities:

[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Conrad[/name]
[name]Duncan[/name]
[name]Edward[/name]
[name]Malcolm[/name]
[name]Philip[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name]
[name]Rowland[/name]
[name]Thaddeus[/name]
[name]Tobias[/name]

[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Dorothea[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Lavinia[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Priscilla[/name]
[name]Regina[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]

I love both [name]Roman[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name]. Had them both on my list until my husband vetoed them.

I will be 100% honest with you. I’m not sure where you are from. I am from the US. [name]Clementine[/name] is one of those names that it seems like everyone on this site likes but I can’t see the appeal of it. I really dislike this name. [name]Roman[/name] is not my favorite but I don’t think it’s bad at all. I definitely think it ages well. Here are a few suggestions for you:

[name]Roman[/name] is very nice, I love, love, love [name]Clementine[/name]! It’s actually in my top 10 right now.

[name]Roman[/name] is fabulous. I strongly dislike [name]Clementine[/name].

I like [name]Roman[/name] a lot. I really don’t like [name]Clementine[/name]; I don’t find it classy at all… more country bumpkin.

I don’t understand the appeal of [name]Roman[/name]. To me it is like naming your son Egyptian or Persian. However, I love [name]Clementine[/name]. I think it’s spunky and sweet, and I love that it has that country swing to it. [name]Clementine[/name] appears on my family tree as early as the 1850s, so I can certainly picture the name on an adult woman.

Clementine is cute, but I can’t see it on a woman, and it sounds like you’re trying too hard, if you know what I mean? I like Roman, but I don’t love it. Again, it seems a bit like you’re trying too hard. Try the babynames.com test: Go into Starbucks or some coffee place, order your coffee, and when they ask for your name, say Clementine. See how it makes you feel, and see how the cashier responds to it. That might make you think differently.

I have some suggestions for you as well:

I like [name]Roman[/name]. I agree with [name]Genevieve[/name] that [name]Clementine[/name] sounds too try-hard. I think [name]Clemence[/name] sounds better

I really like both of them.
