Roman?

Hello all! I haven’t posted for awhile! I have recently been thinking about [name_m]Roman[/name_m] more if our little one is a boy. DH is on the fence about it but does seem to like it. I have a couple of questions about the name:

  1. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you picture a little boy named [name_m]Roman[/name_m]?
  2. What do you think of when you hear the name [name_m]Roman[/name_m]?

Thanks for the help!

I love the name [name_m]Roman[/name_m]! It was on my favorites list at one point.

I picture a boy named [name_m]Roman[/name_m] as dark haired, mischievous, smart and somewhat…serious maybe? Or maybe mysterious is a better word.

When I hear the name I think of a headstrong, wise and humble person. I think tall dark and handsome due to the ‘rome’ part of it; makes me think [name_f]Italy[/name_f]. It gives me the same vibe as [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], which if you have read Too Kill a Mockingbird, is a great namesake. The name just has a great feel to it and a lot of character.

I think [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is such a remarkably handsome and strong name

What I think when I hear [name_m]Roman[/name_m]…

  1. [name_m]Rome[/name_m]
  2. in Croatia, roman is a novel, and that’s what draws me to this name
  3. but it also remind me of local Romani people, which is bad

This is a great response! I agree with a lot of what you said. I had never thought about it having the same vibe as [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], but I like that!

I think of [name_m]Roman[/name_m] as a very strong name. Kind of [name_m]Russell[/name_m] Crowe a la Gladiator. I like it!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] this! I think of it that way too. Thanks for your response!

I really like the name [name_m]Roman[/name_m] but I would only use it as a middle name because I have too many favourite boys names that end in N already.

I would picture a [name_m]Roman[/name_m] to have either dark or blond hair with dark eyes, he would be funny and a little shy but have lots of friends. He would be into sport but like to read also.

When I hear the name I think of [name_m]Roman[/name_m] Atwood who makes videos for YouTube.

I agree there are so many boy names that end with n! I love how you picture [name_m]Roman[/name_m]. Thanks!

[name_m]Roman[/name_m] was my first choice for our son but my husband vetoed it. I think of an Italian boy…brown hair, brown eyes, handsome. I also think the name sounds strong yet also intelligent with a European feel. I mentioned the name to parents and my mom loved it but my dad didn’t. Maybe it is not a name preferred by men…just a thought?

That’s a good point, but I find it weird that men wouldn’t like the name. To me it sounds very masculine, which my husband is always looking for when it comes to boy names! Can I ask what name you decided on instead of [name_m]Roman[/name_m]?

I have a [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]! He’s almost 4 and haven’t heard any bad responses to his name. Although he does like to roam.

I liked it because it was a simple, yet strong name to go with our finnish last name.

[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]

Thanks for responding! [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is such a handsome name! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any nicknames for him?

I adore [name_m]Roman[/name_m]! It is so strong and masculine. It’s been on my favorites list for quite awhile now. I would probably call him [name_f]Ro[/name_f] or [name_m]Rome[/name_m] as a nickname.

  1. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you picture a little boy named [name_m]Roman[/name_m]?
  • I picture a boy named [name_m]Roman[/name_m] as being dark-haired, bright and full of mischief.
  1. What do you think of when you hear the name [name_m]Roman[/name_m]?
  • Unfortunately, my first thought is of convicted felon director [name_m]Roman[/name_m] Polanski. He raped an underage girl in the US years ago and fled to Europe to escape justice. Second thought is of the noun (Romans are the people of [name_m]Rome[/name_m]) and thirdly, [name_m]Roman[/name_m] numerals.

I actually expected to have this response about [name_m]Roman[/name_m] Polanski. I realize this has been in the news in recent years. On the other hand, I’m not sure he’s notorious enough for me to veto the name…but maybe that’s just me? Thanks for responding!

I love [name_m]Roman[/name_m]. A better association than [name_m]Roman[/name_m] Polanski is the alien boy on new series [name_f]Star[/name_f]-Crossed. As a little boy he was very cute, then he grew up into a sexy, mysterious and brave teenager, so that’s what I imagine a [name_m]Roman[/name_m] to be like. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite combo is [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m], but that might be a bit much for you.

I’ve never heard of the series [name_f]Star[/name_f]-Crossed, but I am excited to look into it now! Thanks for your response!

I love this name too, I don’t associate it with Polanski for some reason… I think maybe because I think of him by his surname. It is really my only concern for using the name and at this point I think I may use it.

It looks like me and my husband will be using [name_m]Roman[/name_m] as our son’s middle name, however, if it were entirely my choice it would be his first name.

I find it to be an incredibly strong and handsome name. I’ve always been completely in love with it. I love reading that people have used it and are considering it!

Thank you! I agree with you I don’t really associate it either!
