Romana vs Romola

I really like both of these names and love [name_u]Roma[/name_u]/[name_u]Romy[/name_u] as nicknames. Of these two, which do you prefer and why?

I like Ramola, I like the softer sounds, it rolls off the tongue better and it sounds very sweet and exotic- I’ve never heard it before. I also like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], but I always thought it sounds very grown up and I’m not sure I like it on a little girl

[name_f]Romana[/name_f] is cute. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is absolutely adorable but I know that’s a little different from your suggestions. [name_f]Romola[/name_f] doesn’t sound feminine and doesn’t actually sound like a name to me…sorry. I think of cheese or pasta.

I slightly prefer [name_f]Romola[/name_f], because it’s so beautiful and sing-songy <3 And also, because of the overuse of -ana names. Ramona is also nice, but reminds me of Ramone {which I’m not fond of}.

Honestly, I’m not a fan of either (just personal taste). If I had to choose, though, I’d prefer [name_f]Romana[/name_f] because [name_f]Romola[/name_f] sounds like a brand name to me.

I like them both, actually, but prefer [name_f]Romola[/name_f]. It reminds me of the actress [name_f]Romola[/name_f] Garai (who played [name_f]Emma[/name_f] Woodhouse in a BBC adaptation of [name_f]Emma[/name_f]), and I just like that tie to [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u]. They’re both beautiful, but I like the unusual -ola ending, too.

I like both, but I slightly prefer [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] - it makes me think of The Ramones and has a spunkier, lighthearted , almost carefree feel to it.
