I really love [name_f]Lena[/name_f], but dislike [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]. It’s a bit heavy I think, and reminds me of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] which I don’t think is the best of connections. It does feel like a similar style to [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] though (religious connections).
I prefer [name_f]Helena[/name_f] as a way to get to [name_f]Lena[/name_f]
I like it! I have it on my own list as an honour name; it was the name of my great-grandmother. The sound is so pretty and it has a beautiful flow to it. The only downside I see is the nn [name_f]Magda[/name_f], which I really don’t like
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m] and [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] would be an amazing sibset!
I love [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]! I adore the nn [name_f]Lena[/name_f], too. ([name_f]Do[/name_f] you say it [name_u]LEE[/name_u]-nah or [name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nah or some other way?) As long as you don’t say it like [name_f]Lina[/name_f]/[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-nah, I think you’re fine. [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] and [name_u]LEE[/name_u]-nah would be too matchy for me. [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m], and [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] are fantastic together!
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. Definitely under used and so pretty! I have it on my list as well. I don’t think the association with St. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] is a bad one at all. In fact, that’s one of the reasons I like it.
To be honest, I don’t feel like [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m] goes with [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]. The reason [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m] goes with [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] is the matching sounds of ‘ph’, ‘r’, 'e’and ‘s’, but actually I don’t care for the matching sounds because there are so many the names slur into each other a bit. [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m] is highly romantic and stylish, though, with a fantastic meaning. [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] is a fairly common name in Europe, has been for centuries. So, I think if you want a name that really rises up to [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] and has those similar sounds you’re fond of, I’d suggest [name_f]Raphaela[/name_f]. But I still love [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] and like it with [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], so maybe [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m] could change? [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], [name_m]Balthasar[/name_m], [name_m]Nathanael[/name_m], [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m], [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m] (close to [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]), [name_m]Cassian[/name_m], [name_m]Adriel[/name_m], [name_m]Zephram[/name_m], [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], [name_m]Zaccheus[/name_m], [name_m]Jorah[/name_m], [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u], [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m], [name_u]Memphis[/name_u], [name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m], [name_m]Lucian[/name_m], [name_m]Zevadiah[/name_m], [name_m]Amiel[/name_m], [name_m]Eleazar[/name_m], [name_m]Bazil[/name_m], [name_m]Azaiah[/name_m].
It reminds me of the song [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] Hagdalena. “[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] Hagdalena upataka wakataka okonokopoko was her name! She had 7 hairs on the top of her head, 4 were alive and three were dead, [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] Hagdalena…” I know a girl named [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] (prn. [name_f]Mag[/name_f]-da-lyn) and she went by [name_f]Mags[/name_f]. But I’m not a huge fan of the name.
[i]@abca: Thank you for your comment. I love [name_f]Helena[/name_f] too but its my best friend’s name. I dont really mind the religious connections though.
@daphodil: Thank you for your comment. I really dont like [name_f]Magda[/name_f] too. It sounds very harsh to me.
@ashthedreamer: Thank you for your comment. I pronounce [name_f]Lena[/name_f] as Leh-nuh, but I love [name_m]LAY[/name_m]-na also.
@adelina_sophia: Thank you for your comment. [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] Élisabeth is so gorgeous!
@squidly: Thank you for your comment. I dont think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] is a bad association too.
@anyagreenwitch: Thank you for your comment. You are the second person here that point out that [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] doesnt go with [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m]. I will have to think more about it. I absolutely adore [name_f]Raphaela[/name_f]! Such a romantic name. Definitely goes to my list. Thank you for your other suggestions too. [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m] will remain since I adore him but Iam going to add [name_m]Balthasar[/name_m], [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] & [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] to my list too.
@waverly123: Thank you for your comment. I dont really know of the song, so I will have to google it.
Thanks again everyone who commenting or voting.
Anyone else?[/i]
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] is nice, but it’s a mouthful. I prefer [name_f]Malena[/name_f] which keeps the [name_f]Lena[/name_f] possibility while reducing syllables
I adore [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], it’s one of these names I’d consider for my own daughter. I prefer [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]/[name_f]Meg[/name_f] or [name_f]Magda[/name_f] to [name_f]Lena[/name_f], but it’s still a gorgeous choice. I think [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] make smashing sisters, [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m] less so, but still can work.
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]!!! It’s absolutely gorgeous! When I have my first child, I’m going to conveniently forgot that I have a cousin [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] who lives in Illinois that I only see twice a year anyway.
I love [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and also [name_u]Lanie[/name_u]!
I love [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]. Very lush and evocative. [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] is pretty as well, I just prefer [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Gala[/name_f] would be a sweet nn as well:)
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]. I think it is so beautiful and romantic and flows so nicely. Still hoping to convince my SO. I think I would go with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] for a nn but I do like [name_f]Lena[/name_f] (lay-na) as well. I like your pronunciation ley-neh better actually but have never heard it said that way before. Very pretty!
Edit: Lainey would be such a cute nn!
I love [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]. I had it on my list for a long time. I really like the nns [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] & [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. The only problem I see is with mispronunciation with the -[name_f]Lena[/name_f] part. But that’s not too big of a deal. I think the sibset of [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] & [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m] with [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] is great! I think [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m] is a little out there with [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] & [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], but I think it is workable. [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] and [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] as a sisterset is swoon worthy!
