Romeo, Roman, Soren

Hey Berries,

[name_m]Just[/name_m] curious as to your thoughts on these names!

Like? Dislike? What feeling do they give you? Would you use them? Why, or why not?

I was surprised too see [name_m]Roman[/name_m] at #102 in popularity, while [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] is in the 300s - I would have expected the opposite!

Any suggestions of names similar to these??

I’m just expanding ideas and horizons - thanks loves! [name_m]Keen[/name_m] to talk names!

Not really too fond of [name_m]Roman[/name_m] and [name_m]Romeo[/name_m]. [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] is too [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] for me. I have never met or known a [name_m]Romeo[/name_m], that might help. [name_m]Roman[/name_m] is too tied to Romans for me. The only [name_m]Roman[/name_m] I knew was an undisciplined, out-of-control neighbors child. The dad was unruly also. Actually came out his door and shot at a neighbors dog one day. This was in the middle of a subdivision. So that does not help make me fonder of the name.

I love [name_m]Soren[/name_m].

Absolutely love [name_m]Soren[/name_m]! It is strong but sweet. I will have to add this to my list, because I can definitely see it being useable.

[name_m]Roman[/name_m] and [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] do not draw me in as much. I agree that I associate [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] strongly with [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. I do love [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] through… maybe because there is a bit more nickname potential? Anyway, [name_m]Roman[/name_m] is alright, but again, I agree that it makes me think of [name_m]Rome[/name_m]. Which, of course, is fine. Place names are common. Overall, I see the appeal, but do not love either one.

I do not personally know anyone with any of these three names (although as you mentioned, [name_m]Roman[/name_m] is getting quite popular). I do, however, know a boy named [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]. A little different, but in the same vein. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is another option, although I know it is a more unisex one. Thanks for talking names

I don’t like [name_m]Roman[/name_m], although I absolutely don’t know why, it’s just the sound of it.

[name_m]Soren[/name_m] reminds me of [name_m]Soren[/name_m] Lorenson from the [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] & [name_f]Lola[/name_f] books, but I don’t dislike it. I think it’s pronounced with a ‘soft’ O - as in [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]? It feels very cool and hipster.

I really like [name_m]Romeo[/name_m], although I wouldn’t use it personally. We have a toddler [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] at work who is called [name_u]Mio[/name_u] and now that I associate it with a really funny, sweet kid I just enjoy the name more. I feel like it is a very sweet, soft name.

I love [name_m]Roman[/name_m]. my friend’s son’s name is [name_m]Roman[/name_m] and he’s a sweet, handsome young man (he’s a teen now). [name_m]Soren[/name_m] makes me think of the disneyland ride Soarin’. [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] is too strongly affiliated with the character, I feel. I can definitely hear kids going “[name_m]Romeo[/name_m] oh [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] where art though [name_m]Romeo[/name_m]”

I am obsessed with [name_m]Roman[/name_m] nn [name_m]Rome[/name_m]. I had a theater teacher with the name, and it’s always stuck out to me since then. I don’t like [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] at all, and I don’t like [name_m]Soren[/name_m] for the same reason as @wtfluxy

I love [name_m]Soren[/name_m]. I don’t like [name_m]Roman[/name_m] as it’s what person from [name_m]Rome[/name_m] is known as. You wouldn’t name your kid Chinese, Korean, American, English, etc., would you? I don’t like [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] for obvious reasons.

I love love love the name [name_m]Romeo[/name_m]! It’s romantic, it’s easy, and I think it holds up well as a boy grows up.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Soren[/name_m] and [name_m]Roman[/name_m], but I’m not at all keen on [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] as it’s a bit of a “celeb name” to me, having been used by the Beckhams. I suppose it has a nice soft, flowy sound but between that and the [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] connection there are just too many outside associations for me.

Names in a similar vein to me are:

[name_m]Maceo[/name_m]/[name_m]Mateo[/name_m]
[name_u]Milan[/name_u]
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m]
[name_m]Sylvan[/name_m]
[name_m]Alban[/name_m]
[name_m]Fabian[/name_m]
[name_m]Amadeo[/name_m]
[name_m]Elio[/name_m]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_u]Dorian[/name_u]
[name_m]Marius[/name_m]
[name_m]Leander[/name_m]

So interesting to see how many dislike [name_m]Romeo[/name_m]… mostly due to the story. A friend has a toddler [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and it seems to work so well. But I do get everyone’s point. I’m not sure if I love the name or just find it a bit cutesy…

I get what people are saying about [name_m]Roman[/name_m]. However, somehow it seems so strong and handsome to me. shrugs

[name_m]Soren[/name_m] is pretty (even Hubby paused over it). I’m just not loving it on a boy. Does anyone else find it a touch feminine??

I do not find [name_m]Soren[/name_m] feminine at all.

I don’t find it feminine.

[name_m]Romeo[/name_m] - not surprised it is lower than [name_m]Roman[/name_m], while a great nod to many cultures its still forever tied to [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] and that alone turns many off, including me
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] - love this name! strong, classic, but not uber popular
[name_m]Soren[/name_m] - like a lot, rolls of the tongue, but i do think ‘sore’

I’m not a fan of [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] or [name_m]Roman[/name_m] for many of the reasons that others have already touched on, but I absolutely adore [name_m]Soren[/name_m]. I think you could easily do the nn [name_m]Sorley[/name_m] when using [name_m]Soren[/name_m], which is a sweet Irish name in and of itself (meaning “a summer sailor”; very cute).
