Trying to expand my boys list and wondering if people think this name is too teasable?
I know a little six-year-old [name_m]Romeo[/name_m], and he’s the sweetest boy. I think he wears the name beautifully. Perhaps, if I didn’t know a real child with the name I might think otherwise, but as it is I think it’s a wonderful choice. Romantic and literary, but also a lovely sound and handsome choice. Plus, I think it fits right in with the current popularity of “o” ending names, and makes a great alternative to [name_m]Roman[/name_m], which seems to be trending.
Personally, I would be concerned about teasing with [name_m]Romeo[/name_m]. The dictionary meaning is “an attractive, passionate male seducer or lover”, and on a young man who is shy and self-conscious, the name could come across as a bit ironic.
I love Romeo!! I know a [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] (19) the name fits him well and I never heard of anyone making fun of him because of his name, just the opposite everyone tells him he has a beautiful name. I’d definitely not worry [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] is an elegant an romantic boys name you can’t go wrong with!!
Not at all! [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] is such a strong name! I don’t really hear of any Juliets being teased so I don’t think there’s much potential for [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] to be either. Plus, I do think the Beckhams gave it some cool factor!
I’m in middle school now, and I definitely think there is trasing potential. Sure, that might just be my area, but a [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] would grt devoured, even though I’m in an area with names from [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] to Priyya. Maybe [name_m]Roman[/name_m]?
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is fine, likely because other [name_u]Juli[/name_u]- names are so normalized.
I think it’s adorable! And while I don’t know any personally, it was almost my sons name! And i would’ve paired it as [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] (when we thought his due date would be feb14th)
I can’t really think of any scenarios where [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] could be teased, and I would take the occasional Romeo+Juliet Shakespearean reference as a compliment!
[name_m]Romeo[/name_m] is lovely, handsome and very very cool!!
[name_m]Romeo[/name_m] is charming and cool and gentle all at once - sure, if he ever has to study [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] at school, fellow kids might point it out (they might want him to read the [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] bits if they’re made to read it out loud in class) but I don’t think it would be malicious in nature?
I think in an area that is heavily Spanish-speaking, it would work.
[name_f]Pretty[/name_f] teaseable. Could do [name_m]Roman[/name_m] with [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] as a private nn.
I like [name_m]Romeo[/name_m], but yes… definitely some teasing potential there. I wouldn’t want to be a shy, socially awkward teenage boy named [name_m]Romeo[/name_m].
It has a lot of teasing potential. I think it is usable. It is also getting more popular in the US and several other countries.
I know a little one named [name_m]Romeo[/name_m]. It’s a name that brings a lot of attention. As others have said, if a person is at all self consciousness, they may really dislike the comments etc that [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] brings.
I think there is teasing potential, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will actually happen. With that in mind, it’s still a nice name
I’ve known a few Romeo’s throughout life, they were all pronounced roh-MEH-oh though. I think it’s perfectly usable! It’s somewhat common where I am (it’s usually a pretty common name in Hispanic communities), if you’re somewhere where it’s not as common I can see it getting some eyebrows but nothing more than that really
Extremely so.
The people at teasing age (children) are likely unfamiliar with any Shakespearean associations with this name… so I wouldn’t much sweat it, myself. It’s a gorgeous name! Nickname [name_u]Romy[/name_u] is a sweet plus, too.
I’ve always loved that name and If I was bold enough I would use it. I don’t think it’s tease worthy but even if it was it would be a compliment baiscally because [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] is considered to be handsome.
