[name]Ronan[/name] sounds romantic, strong…[name]Oren[/name] sounds kind of nerdy.
I like them both, honestly. I have heard “[name]Ronan[/name]” more frequently over the last couple of years and have never met an “[name]Oren[/name],” though I do love the name. It’s actually on my list as well. [name]Ronan[/name] [name]James[/name] sounds nice together, but then again so does [name]Oren[/name] [name]James[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you have a strong preference between the two, or are they both pretty equal in your mind?
Thanks so much for your replies - very helpful thus far.
We named him [name]Ronan[/name] [name]James[/name] but I am still not used to his name - after many months. It is very Irish and we are not of Irish decent! I have always wanted to use the name [name]Oren[/name] but my husband did not like it initially. we cant decide what to do. I think I would have to insert another middle name between [name]Oren[/name] and [name]James[/name] - so he doesn’t have the initials OJ, right? or maybe nobody will think of that…This is rather stressful - because if we so change his name then we have to tell friends, family, etc.
First, if you’re American/Western European (including African American) you’re very likely to have Celtic, if not Irish, ancestry. [name]Ronan[/name] [name]James[/name] is such a great name! Have you considered calling him [name]James[/name], if [name]Ronan[/name] isn’t working for you? I’ve known so many people who went by their middle names. [name]Even[/name] RJ is a great set of initials to use as a common name/nickname.
Ronan along with Rowan has become overused and trendy, skip it.
if i understand correctly James is just a middle name so his initials are not OJ the are OJ and something else so there is no reason to worry about that connotation.
[name]How[/name] about [name]Soren[/name] [name]James[/name]? Or [name]James[/name] [name]Oren[/name]
I like [name]Oren[/name] better, but dislike the initials OJ, if [name]James[/name] was fixed and had to be the middle, I’d go [name]Ronan[/name]. OJ being just the first/middle doesn’t make it any better for me, blame OJ [name]Simpson[/name].
I don’t really like [name]James[/name] for a middle though and would keep [name]Oren[/name] and lose [name]James[/name] if given the option.
I do like [name]Ronan[/name], I just like [name]Oren[/name] a bit more.
OJ [name]Simpson[/name]'s full name is Orenthal [name]James[/name] [name]Simpson[/name]. I think that is too close, personally. It’s not just the initials, but the name itself.
I definitely prefer [name]Ronan[/name], but if it’s not working for you, it’s not working.
[name]Ronan[/name] is on my list so I voted for it. A boy at my school has a nephew called [name]Orrin[/name].
I think [name]Ronan[/name] [name]James[/name] is such a fantastic name! Like it so much better than [name]Oren[/name].
You’ve already named him. I think [name]Ronan[/name] [name]James[/name] is lovely, when I first read it I didn’t find it to be overly Irish. It is a fine name, you should leave it as it is.
I like both but [name]Ronan[/name] [name]James[/name] is a definite win for me.
Thank you all for your responses - you’ve been most helpful. I don’t think we would go with [name]Oren[/name] [name]James[/name] because of the OJ thing. It sounds as though [name]Ronan[/name] is more popular - though I still love [name]Oren[/name]. Hopefully I will get used to the name [name]Ronan[/name] soon. Thank you again.
