Ronan

One of the names suggested to me in my last thread was [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]. I do quite like it but I worry that it’s a bit too connected to [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] Keating since he’s the only person I’ve ever heard of with the name. And the UK charts it peaked around the time [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] Keating was popular. I am a way off having kids and [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] keating is no longer on Australian TV but is it still too connected (UK and Australian berries?) or is it not an issue? And what is everyones general opinion on the name?

Thank you.

Not from Aus or UK so you can already guess I have no idea who [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] Keating is lol. But if that puts you off you can try to go for [name_m]Roland[/name_m] or [name_u]Roan[/name_u] as they are pretty similar.

Also have no idea who that is. If we refused to use names of celebrities, what would he have left? I would consider a few celebrity’s names to be untouchable (like [name_f]Beyonce[/name_f]), but would say that most don’t make the cut of being important or famous enough to matter.

I love [name_m]Ronan[/name_m].

Thank you for everyones help so far, this is who I was talking about for those of you who don’t know: Ronan Keating - Wikipedia

I’m from the UK and don’t automatically think of him (though to be fair I didn’t know exacly who he was until I visited the link, even though I know the name). [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]'s great, though I prefer [name_m]Conan[/name_m], [name_m]Connor[/name_m], [name_m]Arran[/name_m],
etc.

Had no idea who he was. From that quick read, it seems like he would be a positive connection.

[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] is a nice name, it feels solid without being stuffy. I’ve heard of [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] Keating but wouldn’t have made the association unless you’d mentioned it. As long as it’s an established name that has a history of use as a name beyond the celebrity (so not something like [name_f]Madonna[/name_f] or [name_f]Oprah[/name_f], for instance), I don’t think it’s a problem. A lot of people have first names that are the name of a celebrity- how many Liams are there other than [name_m]Liam[/name_m] Hemsworth? Emmas other than [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_m]Watson[/name_m], [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_m]Thompson[/name_m] or [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_m]Stone[/name_m]?

[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] Keating also popped into my head when I saw the subject. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]?
