Any thoughts on [name_u]Rory[/name_u] for a girls name?
HELP!
I absolutely love [name_u]Rory[/name_u] for a girl! I actually have [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] on my list for the nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. However, I also think it holds itâs own as a full name Possible mnsâŚ
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Snow[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
I adore [name_u]Rory[/name_u], for a boy.
I prefer [name_u]Rory[/name_u] for a boy (unless used as a nickname) - sorry!
Itâs too masculine
I like [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] but as a name in itâs own right for a girl I am not keen on.
[name_f]IMO[/name_f], [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is a [name_u]TRUE[/name_u] one-size-fits-all for me. I love it on boys and girls.
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] on a girl only has one association for me, though, which is [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls.
I agree - works really well for a boy or girl for me.
I know lots of people on NB really hate boysâ names on girls as a matter of principle, and youâll probably find others who do [name_m]IRL[/name_m], but I personally donât take issue with it. I donât think all boysâ names work for girls too ([name_u]James[/name_u] being a prime example), but [name_u]Rory[/name_u] does [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
As the mom of a boy [name_u]Rory[/name_u], I am disappointed it is being used on girls now. The name comes from an Irish king, so it is very masculine.
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] can definitey go either for a girl or a boy. See [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls for an example of a girl [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_m]Doctor[/name_m] Who for a boy [name_u]Rory[/name_u].
Itâs been used for a couple different female characters, as mentioned above. In the US, it is used for both genders.
My daughter is [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and I love it. We get compliments all the time.
I also think it sounds very similar to a lot of girl names:
[name_f]Lori[/name_f]
[name_f]Tori[/name_f]
[name_u]Dory[/name_u]
Also i know girls named both [name_f]Kori[/name_f] and [name_u]Corey[/name_u]
I donât care for it. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Rory[/name_u] for a boy.
Either way is fine in my eyes! Itâs adorable!
I love [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as a nickname. Itâs spunky and full of life. However, I really get the ânicknameâ feel from [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. Why not use a full name like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] which has a beautiful meaning, is out of the top 100 names, and brings to mind images of princesses (Sleeping Beautyâs name was [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]). [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is the perfect nickname for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].
