Rory or Oslo?

We have a list of about 10 girls names but my husband and I cant decide on a boys name (why are boys names so hard?!)
I wasn’t completely on board with the name [name_m]Oslo[/name_m] but my husband likes it and im becoming more open to it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not sure if its just associated with the city too much as i havent heard it used otherwise.

Thoughts?

I personally prefer [name_u]Rory[/name_u]! [name_m]Oslo[/name_m] has a very cool sound, don’t get me wrong, but I find it a little odd as a name, unless you’re directly trying to name your child after the city for sentimental purposes.

[name_u]Rory[/name_u], no contest.

Oslo is only associated with being the capital of Norway. Rory is a great name for a boy.

Cities are used for baby names frequently (Paris, [name_u]London[/name_u], [name_f]Vienna[/name_f], etc) especially if they are well-known internationally so I think [name_m]Oslo[/name_m] is fine. I do still prefer [name_u]Rory[/name_u].

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though we aren’t having children yet, my husband and I have this same issue when it comes to baby names. We both like each other’s favorite girl names so that’s good but we dislike each other’s styles for boy names lol.
Here is a smattering of other suggestions that fit the two syllable style of these two:

[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_u]Enzo[/name_u]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_u]Juno[/name_u]
[name_u]Cecil[/name_u]
[name_u]Cory[/name_u]
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]
[name_m]Iver[/name_m]
[name_m]Rainier[/name_m]
[name_m]Marco[/name_m]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

seconding @/cms1512 with the cities being used for baby names frequently part (adding sofia onto that list).

i’ve loved oslo as a name for a while but i’ve never been there (or to norway), and i do honestly prefer it to rory. rory is a bit harder to say and it’s just not really my favorite.

[name_m]Oslo[/name_m] is definitely a ‘city name’ which I would find a bit odd unless it was a specific honour for a favourite place or special connection. I really like [name_u]Rory[/name_u]!

I prefer the gentle warm vibes of [name_u]Rory[/name_u] (Oslo feels a bit sleeker and colder), however the double Rs are quite difficult to say for me so I have to vote for [name_m]Oslo[/name_m]!

I do prefer [name_u]Rory[/name_u] - rugged but gentle.

[name_m]Oslo[/name_m] is very cool though - I can see it as a name

Apparently I’m the only one, but I prefer [name_m]Oslo[/name_m]. It has a great sound, it’s cool and spunky but also soft, and it’s one of my favorite cities

Both are lovely

However I prefer [name_u]Rory[/name_u] such a sweet, handsome choice with a cuddly teddy bear feel. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] feels outdoorsy and wholesome along with the gorgeous meaning ‘red king’ I think [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is adorable.

The only reason I’d say [name_m]Oslo[/name_m] is because [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is difficult to pronounce and I think people may ask what its short for frequently enough.

I love [name_m]Oslo[/name_m]! I also think that [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is a better girls name than boys name.

I really like them both. I think [name_m]Oslo[/name_m] is ready for some attention.

[name_f]My[/name_f] oldest son is named [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. It’s a wonderful name! Much prefer it to [name_m]Oslo[/name_m], though [name_m]Oslo[/name_m] does sound cool.

I’d vote for [name_u]Rory[/name_u], because [name_m]Oslo[/name_m] (although it has a great sound to it) just reminds me of the city.

I’d say [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as [name_m]Oslo[/name_m] is too tied to the city.

I’ve never heard of [name_m]Oslo[/name_m] as a name, but I love it! I think it works, maybe because it sounds similar to some established names e.g. [name_m]Otto[/name_m], [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m].

Plus [name_u]Ozzy[/name_u] would be a sweet nickname option!
