I posted before and my husband and I had narrowed down the name [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_u]Calloway[/name_u] (first and middle) for our second boy due in [name_u]January[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] 2-year-old is named [name_m]Simon[/name_m] O’Neal and I have had the hardest time loving any names as much as his. Recently I have been toying with the first name [name_u]Pierce[/name_u], but my husband doesn’t love that there are multiple spelling variants compared to [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. Our last name is uncommon and one syllable.
I like [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_u]Calloway[/name_u]! I love both of these names and I think it goes well with [name_m]Simon[/name_m] O’Neal. Plus, with a one syllable last name, you probably don’t want a one syllable first name because of flow.
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_u]Calloway[/name_u] definitely has that special roll-off-the-tongue and pleasing-to-the-ear ring that is so hard to nail down. I say stick with it!
With [name_m]Simon[/name_m] I love [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] however I totally get the multiple spelling confusion. Ultimately I think for me it would be down to the flow of the name and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_u]Calloway[/name_u] seems to flow the best with the surname
Hmm, these are very different names. I knew a [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] growing up (and still know him) and he got a lot of flack for his name - presumably because it was uncommon, comes across as very high status, and also because it sounds like other “funny” words. The high class thing isn’t a reason not to use it - I love fancy [name_u]Brit[/name_u] names! And it might indeed be a pro - but it probably isn’t quite as contextually transferable nor as immediately likeable and inclusive as the cheerful and outgoing [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. [name_u]Rory[/name_u], though, might not have quite the same feel with [name_m]Simon[/name_m]. [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m] sound cerebral to me! I would go for [name_u]Rory[/name_u] myself because I think [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] is quite a lot to wear and has high teasing potential (where I am). [name_u]Or[/name_u] I would see about a middle ground name, a third way! (I love [name_u]Calloway[/name_u], I would keep that for sure!)
I love [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_u]Calloway[/name_u]!
The only reason [name_u]Rory[/name_u] isn’t higher on our own list is that it sounds similar to my name. I love seeing it used.
As someone who has a hard time pronouncing repeating Rs, and as the mother of two kids who have the same difficulty, [name_u]Pierce[/name_u]. [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] is super sleek and cool. [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] [name_u]Calloway[/name_u] is a great combo!
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] & [name_m]Simon[/name_m] are a much softer cozy duo, whereas I agree with a previous comment, [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] & [name_m]Simon[/name_m] give a colder [name_f]British[/name_f] nobility vibe. [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] would be a cool name for a character, but for a kiddo my vote is for [name_u]Rory[/name_u]!
