Rosa as an English name?

I really like the name [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], but hubby is having a hard time getting over the “Latin sound”. He thinks it’s pretty but doesn’t know if its appropriate to use for an englisjh baby. When I looked it up, it showed as being popular in many languages so I don’t see why we need to be so rigid

Thoughts on [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]?

Suggestions for MN? Right now I’m thinking [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] after my grandmother [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]. Last name is two syllables and starts with B.

Thanks

The usage map makes it look like [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] is most popular in several of the southwestern states and [name_u]California[/name_u], which may indicate higher Hispanic usage. Does that mean the name ceases to be appropriate for an English baby? (English like the country or the language?) Of course not. It’s really down to whether it will bother you that most Rosas in a particular area (and possibly worldwide) are Hispanic.

I think [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] is a gorgeous combo! For a baby of any ethnicity

Thanks Ladies

Very rarely does a name belong to a certain culture (though we can’t help associations) and [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] is not one of them. I think [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] (or [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]) would be a gorgeous name for any little girl.

[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] is such a nice name, you should totally go for it:)
