Me and my boyfriend like [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] and which are both meaningful to me because the first was the name of my grandmother and [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] because Fada [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] ([name_f]Oriana[/name_f] the [name_f]Fairy[/name_f]) my favorite book growing up has sentimental value (It’s still a best-seller today, think “[name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland”, but the name is not popular at all).
Which name crosses better into an English-speaking setting? I ask this because my boyfriend is from [name_f]England[/name_f] as is his entire family.
I think that [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] would probably cross over best, but I think both are lovely and usable in and English speaking setting. [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] might be confused as [name_f]Ariana[/name_f], though.
I like both, but I think [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] would translate better in an English-speaking setting. [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] might often be misheard as [name_f]Ariana[/name_f] (which is somewhat popular lately). But your personal association with [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] is so sweet! What about [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] [name_f]Oriana[/name_f]? It might be a bit of a mouthful, but it would incorporate both names :). I do think [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] would be perfectly usable though, so if you like it better it could definitely work.
Oriana is one of my favorites. I, personally, prefer it as a middle name but still love it. Rosalia is nice too. If I had to pick one I’d pick Oriana over Rosalia.
Btw: Oriana was the nickname for Queen Elizabeth I of England where your boyfriend & his family is from.
I think both work. I grew up in a small town in the US and one of my friends’ sisters was named [name_f]Oriana[/name_f]. People didn’t have too much trouble with it. I find it really lovely. [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] is also nice, a little less unique in comparison though.
I prefer [name_f]Oriana[/name_f]. [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f]?
We would rather choose one name or the other because my last name ([name_f]Oliva[/name_f]) will be the baby’s “middle” name. In Portugal we give the babies both their parents’ last names. It won’t be alliteration with [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] because it will be “[name_f]Oriana[/name_f] de [name_f]Oliva[/name_f] {dad’s surname}”.
