Rosalie or Rosalind?

My co-worker is having difficulty choosing between the two. Her only worry is the [name]Rosalie[/name] and Twilight association.

I prefer [name]Rosalind[/name]. [name]Rosalie[/name] is beautiful but it has too strong an association with Twilight for me. [name]Rosalind[/name] makes me think of [name]Shakespeare[/name] and “As You Like it” and - for a literary association - I think it’s a much nicer one.

I love both! The only thing that would discourage me from using [name]Rosalie[/name] is that it seems like everyone mentions Twilight. I will give [name]Meyer[/name]'s credit on name choices though (Well, outside of [name]Renesmee[/name]. But that’s just my opinion).

I do really love [name]Rosalind[/name], I think it’s such a timeless beauty. Agree with the [name]Shakespeare[/name] association.

I prefer [name]Rosalie[/name]. I personally don’t consider the name exclusively “Twilight” I guess because [name]Rosalie[/name] was used a long time before Twilight was around.

[name]Rosalind[/name] is prettier I think. [name]Rosalie[/name] is beautiful too, and as I’ve not read the books or seen the movies I didn’t know it was a Twilight name.

[name]Both[/name] are really great names – I just happen to prefer [name]Rosalind[/name].

I much prefer [name]Rosalie[/name]. I think it’s very romantic sounding. I find the -lind ending of [name]Rosalind[/name] awkward to say. Despite having read all the Twilight novels I do not tie this name soley to the series. I think unless the name is connected to a major character, people tend to forget the association fairly quickly.

[name]Both[/name] are lovely, I like [name]Rosalind[/name] a bit more, just feels stronger to me

I much prefer [name]Rosalind[/name].

Going to go against the current here and say [name]Rosalie[/name]. [name]Rosalind[/name] seems so stuffy to me, and doesn’t flow well.

[name]Rosalie[/name] gets my vote.

I agree with this completely. I love both names but I prefer [name]Rosalie[/name]. While there definitely is the Twilight association, I don’t think [name]Rosalie[/name] is exclusively Twilight. On the Twilight note, [name]Bella[/name], [name]Jacob[/name], and [name]Edward[/name] have all received extra attention because of Twilight, but all of those names have been around long(and were popular) before Twilight. I’ve never read Twilight, but I do know most people don’t automatically think of [name]Rosalie[/name] when they think of Twilight character names. I’d say the same about [name]Jasper[/name] as well.

But a name like [name]Arwen[/name]-I think people will almost always associate it with LOTR. (Not that it’s a bad association or anything, I love Tolkien!)

Plus, I think the Twilight craze will die out eventually. With that said, your coworker’s child’s peers will probably never read Twilight, and most people now haven’t read Twilight, so I don’t think your coworker has to worry too much about the Twilight association!

I love [name]Rosalind[/name], but I’ve never known a [name]Rosalie[/name]. Tell me, is it pronounced [name]Roz[/name]-a-lee or [name]Rose[/name]-a-lee?

[name]Rosalie[/name] is pronounced [name]Rose[/name]-a-lee. I have heard [name]Rosalind[/name] pronounced [name]Roz[/name]-a-lind and [name]Rose[/name]-a-lind.

I vastly prefer [name]Rosalie[/name] - has she considered [name]Rosalia[/name] ? ([name]Rose[/name]-all-ee-ah) if Twilight bothers her?

I love [name]Rosalie[/name] and I think it’s quickly overcoming the Twilight connection. It’s classic, delicate, sweet and beautiful. I find the -lind ending of [name]Rosalind[/name] to be a bit bulky.

I would much rather go through life as a [name]Rosalie[/name] than a [name]Rosalind[/name]. I think [name]Rosalind[/name] is lovely in a vacuum, but the pronunciation would be a royal pain. It’s just a heavy name, you know? And I’ve often heard [name]Rosalind[/name] pronounced [name]ROZ[/name]-a-lind, which is nowhere near as pretty as [name]ROSA[/name]-lee. (I’ve never heard [name]Rosalie[/name] pronounced with a z sound, thankfully.)

That is a toughie. I am loving both right now! [name]Rosalind[/name] is probably the one I would go with, since I love the nn [name]Lindy[/name].

and another reason I would go with Rosalind is because it is not in the top 1000, but Rosalie is.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] - I would not consider this a Twilight name, but I do see it rising in popularity because it is a great name

Might I suggest [name]Rosaline[/name]?

I prefer [name]Rosalie[/name]. I think the twilight fad is over and by the time the child will care about her name no one will really cling to the twilight association.
