Rosalie? Usable or too 'Twilight'

Mhmm. And I can understand why the books and movies get mocked so much, but come on, were they really that bad? I mean it’s not like Twilight was the first supernatural love story ever.

If you’d asked if it was too Twilight about three years ago, I’d have said yeah. Now? It takes a bit of thinking to make that connection. In a couple of years, hardly anyone will remember that series. Same goes for The Hunger Games.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is pretty, I’m just sad that it blew up because of Twilight. That being said, I really don’t think or Twilight (anymore) when I hear it and I read the books.

That’s a dangerous question to ask 'round these parts.

I’d say a lot of the criticism of it which you see on here is about the power dynamics in [name_f]Bella[/name_f] and [name_m]Edward[/name_m]'s relationship being unhealthy. Which, yeah, it was, very much so, there are a lot of resources explaining this if you Google around. However, I think it does get jumped on because it was so popular. There are books with worse portrayals of meaningful relationships, but Twilight being targeted at a younger more impressionable audience and becoming popular opened it up to a lot of fire.

I’ve never thought of Twilight when hearing [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. It’s a lovely name!

Yeah, I heard of that too. [name_m]Edward[/name_m] was always stalkerish and controlling… but I think most of the general criticism of Twilight is just about the stupidity of the whole thing: sparkly vampires, ripped werewolves, melodramatic love triangle… I am a fan of the series but I can still see the ridiculousness of it.

But anyway, lol this thread is about [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]: she (the Twilight character) was always described as very beautiful, so if anyone does make connections to Twilight that’s what they’ll think of. Beautiful isn’t a bad association.

Her middle name is [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_m]Hale[/name_m].

I HATED Twilight (I teach high school and know all about abusive relationships and how teenage girls are especially vulnerable, so the books made my blood boil) and took [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] off my name list because of it. However, there are very few names that scream “Twilight” because most of the names were already well-established names ([name_m]Jacob[/name_m], [name_f]Alice[/name_f]). I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] falls into that category. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I have a deep visceral hatred of the books (didn’t watch the movies), I wouldn’t associate [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] to Twilight. I think you’re safe there.

Honestly the only name I think is too Twilight is [name_f]Renesmee[/name_f].

I think that I will always associate [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] with Twilight, but not in an over-bearing way; it’s definite a solid name in it’s own right.

if you’re expecting now, i’d say don’t use it. if it will be a few more years, go ahead (as long as your last name isn’t Hale). as a few others have said, the Twilight-madness is dying down so hopefully by the time she reaches school age, few people would make the association, especially with her not being a primary character in the series.

as for the sibling names, i like both [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] but i probably wouldn’t use them as sib names. they just seem too different to me. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is somewhat sophisticated and classic, whereas [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is more of a modern nickname.

I love the name [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and while some people will think of Twilight, not all will. You can find a pop culture reference for almost any name you like so I’d say go with it. I also think it sounds great with [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Miles[/name_m].
However, if you feel too many people will think of Twilight when they hear [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], you could consider [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f].

No, I don’t think it matters. There’s a [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] at the daycare I work at and [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] are very popular and not associated with the books. Twilight has no lasting power. And even if it did, people always name their children after famous novels.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is beautiful. I’ve never read the Twilight books, so wasn’t even aware of the association some people have.

[name_f]Susan[/name_f]

I think the name is very usable, and your combos make a great sibset!

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is absolutely beautiful, one of my favourite names! And unless you’re planning on naming her brothers [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] and her sisters [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Bella[/name_f], no it isn’t “Twilighty” at all. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] are really cute together and I like your middle names too

Wonderful, usable name. Classic feel, modern sounds, elegant, regal, romantic, sweet. It is internationally used. I don’t think you need anyone’s permission to use this beautiful name. If this is the one that you like, nothing should hold you back. Super cute with [name_u]Jude[/name_u]

What about [name_f]Romina[/name_f] or [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]?

Since [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is my grandmother’s name, I think it’s completely usable. In fact, I always get annoyed when people say [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is “too Twilight” because I was familiar with that name looooong before Twilight and will exist for a long time after it. Go ahead and use [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] because it’s a beautiful name.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is definitely not too Twilight. I’m surprised people have even brought it up. Maybe if you already had children named [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], that would be too much Twilight.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is lovely. Use it.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is a family name, and I don’t even remember it being in Twilight (silly movies didn’t make much of an impression on me). I think it’s lovely when paired w/another [name_m]French[/name_m] name.
