Rosalind or Josephine

Which do you prefer and which is more useable?

Both are useable imo, my fave is [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] - she’s my favorite and I think the most interesting/complex female [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] character. You can call her [name_f]Roz[/name_f] or [name_f]Lindie[/name_f] or even [name_u]Sal[/name_u]. I also like that [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] has its own independent etymology - it means “lover of horses” - while [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is just a feminization of [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], which has a much blander religious meaning. I’ve never liked [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - just sounds boring and stuffy to me while [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] sounds fresh. Both are useable though.

Thanks! Two votes towards [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]. Anyone else?

I love both, but I’d go with [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] just because it’s less common than [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. Either is definitely useable.

I like both, I would choose [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] but I think [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is easier to wear and a bit more versitile, I’d also be more inclined to call her by her full name as I’m not a big fan of any nicknames besides [name_f]Posey[/name_f] while [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] would be called [name_f]Rose[/name_f] 99% of the time by me.

I prefer [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] of these two! I think it’s just such a stunning name.

I like them both but I would choose [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is going to continue to get more and more popular and when I’m honest with myself I like the nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u] more than [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]! I would probably just go with [name_u]Josie[/name_u] as a full name over [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] is just beautiful and more under the radar. [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] are cute nn but I would use [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] while not minding of others used [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]!

Anyone else?

Both are beautiful names and totally wearable, but I absolutely love [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]! It feels feminine and sweet and free-spirited but strong and intelligent at the same time. [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] is one of my favourite characters from [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] so that’s a plus for me. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] feels more classic, and both spunky and grounded, but doesn’t have the same spark for me.

[name_m]How[/name_m] to pick?! [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] are both so equally elegant and charming, and lend to cute nickanems ([name_u]Josie[/name_u], [name_u]Jo[/name_u], [name_u]JoJo[/name_u], [name_f]Fifi[/name_f], [name_f]Fina[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Linda[/name_f], [name_f]Lindy[/name_f]…)!! They are both completely usable and both perfect sweet names, good luck choosing! Either way, you’ll have picked a beautiful name for your daughter!

Both good names, both equally usable(?). I happen to love [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]. One of my faves.

I love both.

[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] is currently our runner-up, just-in-case name choice should we have aa girl. I mentioned it to my husband, and was so surprised that he actually really liked it! So, [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] gets my vote, though [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is very pretty too.

[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] is more feminine and delicate, whereas [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is much more masculine in my opinion. I’d use [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]!

Both are useable and both are gorgeous choices. I personally prefer [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] and her nicknames over [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] just a bit more.

I think they’re both usable. [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] is my favourite because of [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_m]Franklin[/name_m], and I love that it’s an unusual, yet beautiful vintage name. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] has never quite done it for me, I’m just not a fan of the -ine ending generally.

I prefer Josepine just because I don’t like the sound of [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] better.

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] sounds pretty to me, even though feminizations aren’t something I normally like. I actually like [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]/[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] even more than [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] =]

They are both usable, for sure. I would say go with what sounds best to your ears.

They are equally useable. I think I would go with [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. I do not care for [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]. But I seem to be in the minority.
