Rose as a FN

I actually like the name [name]Rose[/name]. I have thrown it around as a possible first name.
It’s mega star status as a MN didn’t bother me until today.
My [name]SIL[/name] had a baby… MN is [name]Rose[/name].
When I heard it I thought “Seriously? you couldn’t think of something a bit more original?”
[name]Do[/name] you think the fact that it’s such a predictable MN makes it unusable as a FN?

Curious to hear what people think

I think the fact it’s such a predictable middle name makes it even better as a first name. It’s so unexpected and fresh that way. [name]Rose[/name] is particularly lovely. It has quite a charming, British feel to it. I like it with long middle names - [name]Rose[/name] [name]Carolina[/name], [name]Rose[/name] [name]Valentina[/name], [name]Rose[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name].

Aww I hate the way [name]Rose[/name] gets talked about because she’s such a popular middle name. I always feel it kind of cheapens it for those of us who - due to tradition - have no other choice but to use it.

I think it’d make a great first name though it’s still pretty popular in that slot.

I love [name]Rose[/name] as a first name. Considering [name]Rose[/name] [name]Aurelia[/name] for our baby (provided it turns out to be a girl).

I like [name]Rose[/name] as a fn.

Definitely. I love it when people use common middle names like [name]Marie[/name], [name]Anne[/name], [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Rose[/name] as a first name. My friend has a daughter named [name]Marie[/name]… it is so refreshing. In a world of Olivias, Avas, Sophias and Isabellas, [name]Rose[/name] would be a head turner.

I ONLY like [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Marie[/name] as first names. [name]Beat[/name] to death as middles, interesting as firsts.

I sort of am starting to lean that way on [name]Jane[/name], too.

I actually would love to see it used more often as a first name. I think it’s sweet, and I’m tired of seeing it used so much as a middle name. Same goes for [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Jane[/name]. Those get used as middle names a lot as well.

I like it as a first or middle name! “Filler” middle names don’t bother me at all.

I like it both as a first name and middle name. Though it’s slightly more interesting to see it as a first name.

I love it in either place. The overused middle thing doesn’t bother me much at all - I do think a fair number of these do have some family reason for use and even if not they sound good there.

I love predictable middle names as first names!
[name]Rose[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Louise[/name], [name]Anne[/name].
It’s refreshing! Short, one syllable names are sweet!

I find it incredibly refreshing to see names usually hidden in the middle slot given the chance to shine as a first name. [name]Rose[/name] is no exception; my combo is [name]Rose[/name] [name]Alessandra[/name]

Same! I’d love to use [name]Rose[/name], but only as a first name.

I also feel the same way about [name]Faith[/name], [name]Hope[/name], and [name]Grace[/name].

I would love to see [name]Rose[/name] as a first name! In fact, I think the fact that [name]Rose[/name] is used as a kind of “filler” middle name makes it more unusual/appreciated as a first name.

My favorite [name]Rose[/name] combination at the moment is [name]Rose[/name] [name]Matilda[/name].

It’s a bit, I think as a first, but it’s absolutely killed as a middle. That being said, I’d much rather see it as a FN! I also like longer middle names with one syllable FNs.

I think since its such a common middle name, it sounds so fresh as a first name. I love [name]Rose[/name], simple, sweet, feminine.

I am going to consider it as a serious option.
Thanks for all the input.
It made me also reconsider [name]Grace[/name] as a FN.

Would it matter if a cousin has it as a MN?

[name]Emilia[/name]

It’s overused as a middle name but just wonderful as a first name.
I love the combos [name]Rose[/name] [name]Marina[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name].

I like [name]Rose[/name] as a first name! It’s my daughter’s middle, after my husband’s grandmother who passed during the pregnancy. My only regret is that I wish I had considered using it as a first name. I will add that as a person with a unusual middle name, I wish I had more of a filler middle name as I’ve always felt my 10 letter middle name cumbersome and silly.
