Rose variations

My beloved grandma’s name is [name]Rosalind[/name]. I love her name and am planning to use a variation for my future daughter. i don’t want to use the same name because the association is too strong, but i definitely want to honor her.

[name]Rose[/name] is my favorite right now. It’s sweet and simple and well-known but dare i say uncommon. I also love the nickname [name]Rosie[/name]. I’m really into classic names, so [name]Rose[/name] fits in perfectly. I also love [name]Rosa[/name] but not as much as just [name]Rose[/name].

I’m starting to love [name]Rosaline[/name] (rose-uh-line) and [name]Rosalina[/name] (rosa-leena), though. WDYT of them? A little more fancy.

[name]Rose[/name] names I’m not so crazy about: [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Rosamund[/name], [name]Rosalyn[/name], [name]Roselle[/name], [name]Rosetta[/name].

If I ever ended up honoring my grandma in the MN spot, I’d never just use [name]Rose[/name]. I’d probably use [name]Rosalind[/name] or [name]Rosa[/name], depending on the flow.

[name]Rosalie[/name] is definitely my favorite, but you aren’t big into that one.

Another favorite is [name]Rosalia[/name]. My brother worked with a lovely Italian girl named this and she pronounced it [name]Rose[/name]-ahl-ya. I’m pretty positive she was raised in the states, though.

I also really love Rosamel, [name]Rosemary[/name] or [name]Rosemarie[/name] (I love [name]Rosemarie[/name]), Rosavieve, Rosabel, and [name]Rosanna[/name].

Yes, a lot of them are smushes, but I’m a shameless shmush lover.

[name]Hi[/name] Isaberry, one of my faves is [name]Rosalie[/name] but since you’re not crazy about that name, I would choose [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Rosaline[/name] depending on the first name. If the first name is multi-syllable and somewhat uncommon, I would go with [name]Rose[/name]. If it’s short and more traditional, [name]Rosaline[/name] would fit the bill. [name]Rosalina[/name] is not my taste as it’s a little too frilly and ultrafeminine. I also have a soft spot for [name]Flick[/name]'s suggestion of [name]Rosemary[/name]. Other options not yet mentioned are the Latin name [name]Rosalba[/name] which means “white rose” , the Spanish names [name]Rosario[/name] or [name]Rocio[/name], the [name]German[/name] Roswitha or the Italian Rosangela. One of my quirky faves for a middle name is [name]Primrose[/name]. There certainly are lots of wonderful choices to honor your grandmother. Good luck!

Hey Isaberry. I’m going to have to vote for my name, [name]Rosa[/name], though I do like most [name]Rose[/name] names. [name]Just[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is one of my favorites; it’s so simple and lovely and classic. I love [name]Rosalind[/name] too, and [name]Rosemary[/name] is probably my favorite [name]Rose[/name] variation. [name]Rosaline[/name] is really pretty and Shakespearan (though I’d pronounce it rosa-leen) but I think [name]Rosalina[/name] is too frilly. There’s also [name]Rosanna[/name], [name]Rosalia[/name], [name]Rosina[/name], [name]Primrose[/name], [name]Rosemarie[/name], and Roselaine.
