[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there
Still obsessing over comparing my favourite names
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] compares with [name_f]Alice[/name_f]? Which do you prefer and why? We already have a mn decided ([name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]) so can’t use both. To me they are quite similar names in terms of style (dainty and feminine) so hard to split them… I feel [name_f]Rose[/name_f] would age better though
I think both age well but [name_f]Rose[/name_f] maybe a little better. Both go great with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
I would go with [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. It is just so underused as a first name but ridiculously overused as a middle name. It’s really pretty and will never go out of style.
Can I suggest you create a poll?
Good luck!!
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] sounds like the same two names - I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] might have the same derivation as [name_f]Eliz[/name_f]abeth. I could be wrong, but certainly [name_f]Elise[/name_f] does, which is similar. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] flows much better. I love all 3 names though! Hopefully you get to use them for a sibling
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is better with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.
They’re both lovely, though. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] would definitely be on my short list for another hypothetical daughter if we didn’t already have an [name_f]Elise[/name_f].
Definitely [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. It was in my top five choices for my little girl. I agree with the above poster that its very underused as a first name.
I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f]! It’s such a whimsical name to me! Plus I love the [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland association. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I usually love nature/word names (especially the more unusual names) up until recently I wasn’t the biggest fan of [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but it’s grown on me and I really like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] now!
The names give me similar vibes, both dainty with a storybook vibe, but [name_f]Alice[/name_f] feels more whimsical while [name_f]Rose[/name_f] feels more romantic. I’d really like them together in a sibset.
With [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] in the middle, [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is the best choice. All the sounds of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] are found in [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]'s first two syllables, and although they’re not related, it’s too much of the same. ([name_f]Imagine[/name_f] if it was [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f], it’s just one A away from sounding almost exactly like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].)
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a wonderful name, [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a classic combo, I don’t think you’ll regret using.
Maybe save [name_f]Alice[/name_f] for a future daughter? [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u] are good fits for [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]'s sister.
I don’t know why people continue to say [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is underused as a first name. It’s in the top 100 in [name_f]England[/name_f], [name_f]Scotland[/name_f], [name_f]Ireland[/name_f], Australia and [name_m]New[/name_m] Zealand. And in the top 200 in the US. Hardly unpopular.
I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f], as it has a sense of magic, whimsy, and mystery because of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] In Wonderland, and I love that feel it has. I’ve know quite a few Roses, and it just doesn’t have the same sparkle and beauty to it in my opinion.
I think they are very similar in style, however, [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a bit sweet while [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a bit quirkier to me. Still, both of them are elegant, timeless and classy, they age beautifully and won’t sound dated in a few years.
With [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] I prefer [name_f]Rose[/name_f], however if you’re down to using two middle names, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] would be beautiful, too!
I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. It’s incredibly sweet. I also love [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is the better combo.
I also prefer [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. It’s a beautiful name and I think the nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is adorable. I love the name [name_f]Alice[/name_f], too, but not the nn [name_u]Allie[/name_u]…I grew up with too many Allisons called [name_u]Allie[/name_u].
I like both. They are similar in style. Both vintage, no frills, elegant, sweet… They would make great sister names. But I much prefer [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] to [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliz[/name_f] are too similar to me. Good luck!
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is one of my favorite names of all time so I may be biased I really like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] - it’s always off and on my list, but I keep wondering if it sounds too similar to malice. I like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] more than [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as well
Thank you for your wonderful replies! I hadn’t even noticed the similarity between the start of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]!! You guys are very helpful ”
The more I read comments about [name_f]Rose[/name_f], the more I like it ”
