Rosebud?

What do we all think of this as a middle name? I was toying around with variants of my middle name and the childish, loving nickname my mother always gave me (and cough still does cough) came to mind.

What do we all think of this as a potential middle name?

That’s so funny, i just posted on another thread about one of the names on my gp list- [name]Eulalie[/name] Rosebud! I love it, i think it is a very usable middle name. Obviously its more literal than most of the other [name]Rose[/name] names but i think that’s fine. I actually prefer it to a lot of botanical names, it has a softness like no other. It might make some people think of Citizen [name]Kane[/name] but thats not a bad thing; it makes me think of the [name]Ryan[/name] [name]Adams[/name] song Rosebud which is beautiful. Yep, i’m all for it!

There is an episode of The [name]Dick[/name] [name]Van[/name] Dyke Show where their son asks what his middle name is. They are embarrassed to tell him that it is Rosebud (it turns out it is an acronym for all the names their families wanted them to use). Embarrasing for a boy, but I think it is cute for a girl

Bostonsavvy, that’s exactly what I thought of too…[name]Ritchie[/name] Rosebud, lol.

So there’s that and there’s Citizen [name]Kane[/name]…but for a girl in the middle spot, it’s useable.

I like Rosebud as a middle name.

It’s sweet, but a little too cutesy for me. I think Rosebud would be an adorable name on a pet.

It’s great if you’re giving birth to a sled.

I love it! It’s very sweet, and has the same sort of feel as [name]Primrose[/name]. I would love to meet a little girl with the MN Rosebud.

Haha. Yeah, I want to like it, but have negative associations. Apparently ‘Rosebud’ was [name]William[/name] [name]Randolph[/name] [name]Hearst[/name]‘s alleged nickname for his mistress’…lady bits, according to an [name]Orson[/name] Welles/Citizen [name]Kane[/name] documentary. I doubt too many people have that association though, so it’s still wearable.

@blade - LOL (literally). That’s all I can think of when I hear rosebud as well. Sorry! Great for a cat or dog!

HAHA!

Perhaps just save it as a nickname for your own daughter.

I agree with blade. It would be an adorable middle name if it wasn’t for the connection to one of the most famous twists in movie history.

I like it for the middle! with all the other [name]Rose[/name]- names it will blend in but stand out, like a [name]Matilda[/name] or [name]Sylvie[/name].

I think you can get away with it. I didn’t think of the sled until someone mentioned it. I’d be more hesistant about the associations if you were going to use it for a first. But, especially with all the [name]Rose[/name] mns these days, I think it will blend it but be just a little different.

I personally just think it’s a nickname. I’m really not a fan of it, even in the middle spot. I think it’d be kinda cool to call your daughter Rosebud like your mum called you, and I think it could be something special you share with her.

It’s a little too cutesy for me, but I love almost all other forms of [name]Rose[/name].

It’s a little too cutesy for me. What’s wrong with [name]Rose[/name]? My all-time favorite [name]Rose[/name] name is [name]Rosemary[/name].
