I have the middle name [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and, as you may know, have never felt connected to my first name.
I’m looking for a nn for my middle. [name_f]My[/name_f] options so far are [name_u]Rose[/name_u], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Ros[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_u]Marie[/name_u] and [name_f]Maree[/name_f].
I know [name_f]Ros[/name_f] is more of a nn for [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] / [name_f]Rosamond[/name_f] and more [name_f]Ros[/name_f] sounding names but it’s the one I feel most drawn to. Again with [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], it’s more a nn for [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] names. [name_u]Rose[/name_u] feels a little simple for me with [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] feeling a bit child-like? [name_u]Romy[/name_u] is another but I feel that it’s a name used for younger children at the moment.
Another option for me is [name_f]Mary[/name_f] / [name_u]Marie[/name_u] / [name_f]Maree[/name_f]. With these, [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is a bit common and old-fashioned for my liking but [name_f]Maree[/name_f] was my almost name. There is a loch named [name_f]Maree[/name_f] which I was going to be named after, thats why I’ve stuck with this spelling. It’s pronounced the same as [name_u]Marie[/name_u].
For another option of a nn there is my first name, [name_f]Grace[/name_f] but it’s not very nnable with Gi and [name_u]Rae[/name_u] being the only good ones I could think of.
I think my favourite option is [name_u]Marie[/name_u] or [name_f]Maree[/name_f] but I’m interested to hear from the berries!
Here are some things to think about
- nn first or middle?
- which nns are viable/will work?
- any more nns you can think of?
