I recently found the name Rosemyrtle on @moonstone’s signature, and fell in love with it immediately.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is one of my favorite names, but I’ve never really loved it enough to use it. However, it is a pretty, sweet, vintage name, and actually my mother’s birth flower, which is why I’m still hanging on to the notion of using it.
[name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] was a name I used to hate, but I started liking it after hearing the true pronunciation (I used to pronounce a lot of [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] names wrong). I’ve always wanted to use this name, and the nature association just makes me love it more.
So, my questions are:
What are your thoughts on Rosemyrtle? Useable or no? What imagery does it give off? What are some possible middle/first name combos?
If you take the time out of your day to read this and respond, thank you so much!
Not a fan. Maybe you could use [name_f]Rosanne[/name_f], [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], or [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]?
I’ll break the pattern, I’m a fan. The name immediately drew me in and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] is it’s own plant so it, much like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], isn’t two names randomly squished together but it’s own nature name, not to mention the fact that [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] flowers a beautiful. I think with a name that long you’d need a much shorter middle.
I do quite like it. Rosemyrtle is intriguing! [name_f]Rose[/name_f]-[name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] or [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] as a double name would be sweet too
I’m glad you like it. I find Rosemyrtle clunky but charming. I think it makes a great middle name but would probably be too awkward as a first.
I adore the plain old [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] too, but I’m yet to find a good middle for it. My current [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] combo is super heavy.
I’m not big on it myself, but do see the appeal - clunky, but funky. I think it would make a great, quirky middle, though might be a little ‘much’ as a first.
Oh it’s gorgeous! Rosemyrtle is very much my thing. I’ve been thinking about [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] for a while actually and decided against it (so many consonants, so witchy) but [name_f]Rose[/name_f] really brightens her up. Rosemyrtle feels both more medicinal and floral and I mean that in a good way - more on par with [name_f]Hyacinth[/name_f] than [name_f]Mildred[/name_f].
I think of an English medicine garden. All old stone and mystery. As a kid I imagine her musical, playful, secretive. A bit boyish maybe. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or Myr as an adult nickname.
I think it’s a fantastic middle and workable as a first in the right circumstances.
In terms of combos I get the feeling something classic, solid (and ‘palatable’) would work best. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because names like this run the risk of feeling a bit character-like if you’re not careful.
