Rosina or Anna Lucía, help choose

I love [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_m]Luc[/name_m]ía because it honors both my grandmothers. However, I still have doubts about spelling [name_f]Anna[/name_f] with two ns, the minority spelling by far where I live.

I love [name_f]Rosina[/name_f] because I think it’s sweet but still appropriate for an adult. It is also much less common than [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. And it just makes me smile

Also I’m American, middle names are big for us, but it causes me nothing but headaches in Spain where I live and will live. Should I save the headache and skip the middle name?

Last names will follow the conventions here, so

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_m]Luc[/name_m]ía (Dad’s first surname) (my surname)

Both our surnames are 3 syllables, his being Spanish and mine Italian. I’m worried about both first names being too long in conjunction with two long last names.

[name_f]Ana[/name_f]-[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
hyphenated like the character on tv’s Lost, would that solve the middle name problem in Spain whilst still including both grandmothers’ names? You could always just say ‘[name_f]Ana[/name_f]’ when you address your daughter if you don’t want to say [name_f]Ana[/name_f]-[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] all the time.

[name_f]Rosina[/name_f] is very pretty, too! My mother is American and has no middle name and neither do any of her siblings. I know middle names are usually used in [name_u]America[/name_u] but at the end of the day 99 percent of people you meet… you never ever know their middle name or ask or wonder what it is or anything! The biggest deal for the middle name is the birth announcement and then it’s often mostly forgotten [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I like both names, but would probably go with the meaningful name, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], and then would definitely hyphenate it and probably use [name_f]Ana[/name_f]-[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] if my daughter was going to be in Spain for at least her growing up. It still honours your [name_f]Anna[/name_f] grandmother.

I love [name_f]Rosina[/name_f] and do prefer it, but I like that [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] honors family.

I love [name_f]Rosina[/name_f], such a pretty name!
Though I understand that using a name with meaning to you is important. If you’re worried about [name_f]Anna[/name_f]'s spelling (I’d be too) what about [name_f]Rosina[/name_f] [name_m]Luc[/name_m]ía instead of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]? Or you could combine [name_f]Rosina[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] into [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f], so it’s both a name that makes you smile and an honor name.
I don’t think middle names are necessary if you’re going to be living somewhere where they aren’t the norm, though I personally like middle names as they give the child a second option to go by if they don’t like the first name they have.

I like the [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f] and no middle idea!

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is beautiful, though I’m always a sucker for [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-combos. I also love that its a honor name.

I adore [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I feel it fits many different personalities and has/will stand the test of time. If honoring is very important to you, I would go with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]…or [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Anna[/name_f] (maybe [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] as a nickname).
