Thoughts? I have been struggling with [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] for a while now and I just need to hear some thoughts on this combo. What I really love is [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u], but I’d rather not plan on having my child go by his MN (even if he is hugely hypothetical at this point!), and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] is literally all I’ve got. I adore both names, but I’m just not sure I’m wowed by them together.
WDYT? Is [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] a winner?
I’m also one of those people who would prefer to name my child what he will be called in the first place. I love [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m]! If you want to spice it up a little, maybe you could go with the [name_u]Roan[/name_u] spelling? I personally prefer it. Seems less… feminine or something.
I think they work really well together. The flow is great, [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] helps [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] sound less trendy and modern but still let’s it bring something youthful to the combo. You wouldn’t expect them together but they work.
@oiseau - ugh, yes. At first I was just like, “Oh, well, it can’t be that bad, can it? I’d just use [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] and call him [name_u]Rowan[/name_u].” But the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], too, and I’m just frustrated in general, haha. I thought I’d go back to my original combo–[name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]–and opt for [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] as a FN, maybe as [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m]. But then I keep missing [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. le sigh. And I prefer Rowan to Roan. I always say RONE rather than ROW-ahn, and I like that Rowan feels so naturey and reminds me of Ireland and the Scottish highlands. I think I probably think of the Roan that was in an Alias episode, but it feels more cold-hearted and metallic, almost, but Rowan feels more friendly and gentle and kind and down-to-earth, which is what I love. I know it’s more unisex, but I still like it more.
@mermuse - meh. I tried. I really don’t like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], for some reason. I think I’m just going to go through a bunch of name lists this weekend and see if there’s something that really pops besides [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m]? I like it a lot, but for some reason I just keep missing [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. le sigh. I was thinking of [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]/[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], too–[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] has special ties to my mom–but I’m not sure I like it any better than [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m]. I had considered [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Philipp[/name_m] (I seem to like [name_m]German[/name_m] names with [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], haha, and love the funky [name_m]German[/name_m] [name_m]Philipp[/name_m] spelling. I claim my [name_m]German[/name_m] ancestry, haha), [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] Matthieu, and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Joshua[/name_m], too, but I wasn’t sure I liked them any better than [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m]. If not [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] or [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], what would you pair with [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]?
It confused me–I always think of [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] as female, but I do love it. I’d opt for [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] for a boy.
