Rowan or Tallula?

I thought my husband I agreed on the name [name]Rowan[/name] for our little girl, but now he’s saying he likes [name]Tallula[/name] better! Which one do you berries prefer?

[name]Rowan[/name] by a landslide. [name]Tallulah[/name] Bankhead was a pretty poor role model.

I much prefer [name]Tallula[/name] but then I’m from [name]England[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name] is much more a boys name here, automatically makes me think of [name]Rowan[/name] Atkinson

I like both. [name]Just[/name] suggested them to another [name]Berry[/name] before I saw your post - sorry! [name]Rowan[/name] to me is a calm, grounded, gentle person. [name]Tallulah[/name] is playful and open-hearted. I’m over the [name]Tallulah[/name] Bankhead association. It’s getting to be a hip name, and there’s the Native American meaning (is it something about babbling brooks? something onomatopoetic.)
There such different names. Can you give us something else to go on? Middle and (approximate) last name?

I like them both but [name]Tallula[/name] wins for me.

This is pretty much how I feel. I love both, but they both feel so different to me. It’s hard for me to pick one over the other because they’re both so lovely but so different.

I personally don’t like [name]Rowan[/name] on a girl - as I’ve only ever seen men with the name.

I really like [name]Tallula[/name]/h for the Native American association. And it’s just pretty. It makes me think of the pretty young actress [name]Tallulah[/name] [name]Riley[/name] who was in The Boat that Rocked (Pirate Radio).

I like [name]Tallulah[/name]! I also much prefer [name]Rowena[/name] to [name]Rowan[/name]…

I feel that [name]Rowan[/name] is becoming much more popular and accessible as a girl’s name, and I don’t see any problem using it on a girl. According to the SSA, 539 American girls were given that name last year. To put it in perspective, 351 were named [name]Matilda[/name], 327 were named [name]Pearl[/name], and 194 were named [name]Mabel[/name] (all very feminine names to me, but the more traditionally-masculine [name]Rowan[/name] beat them out).

[name]Rowan[/name] is one of my favorites, and I would love to use it myself, but I can’t get my husband on board. I hope you pick [name]Rowan[/name], though I agree with pp and would like to see some middle name choices, as this could be a deal breaker.

Boy, those are sure two very different options! I prefer [name]Tallula[/name]. (though I do like it a bit better spelled [name]Tallulah[/name] personally).

I love the quirkiness of [name]Tallula[/name] (prefer [name]Tallulah[/name] spelling). [name]Rowan[/name] to me has a totally different sensibility to it. I think [name]Rowan[/name] is a much more serious name.

[name]Rowan[/name] would be my pick. [name]Tallula[/name]/[name]Tallulah[/name] is a little [name]OTT[/name] for me and [name]Rowan[/name] is lovely.

I love them both…But [name]Rowan[/name] is my favorite name …so I vote [name]Rowan[/name]!!!I would use it in a hearbeat…I want a little [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Seraphina[/name]

[name]Rowan[/name] gets my vote as well. I’ve never liked the sound of [name]Tallula[/name], though the meaning is nice. Good luck. =]

[name]Rowan[/name] is in my top three names for a girl so I am biased  [name]Tallulah[/name] is sweet too though and has a beautiful meaning behind it. I never even hear of [name]Tallulah[/name] Bankhead?! I don’t think your daughter’s generation would make that association at all. I wouldn’t worry about it.

It drives me crazy when people say they hate [name]Rowan[/name] on a girl, that it is too masculine. It is a good unisex name. Other names that are clearly masculine like [name]Addison[/name] and [name]Madison[/name] are super popular for girls and nobody bats an eye, but [name]Rowan[/name]? God forbid… Sigh… End rant.

My vote is for [name]Rowan[/name].

Thanks for your thoughts! It seems pretty tied…for middle names we were thinking

[name]Rowan[/name] [name]Ainsley[/name] or [name]Tallula[/name] [name]Malloy[/name] (family name)

I like [name]Rowan[/name] much better than [name]Tallula[/name].
My personal top of the list favorite name is [name]Rowena[/name] though, so that may be why i like [name]Rowan[/name] better.

I like [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Ainsley[/name] much more than [name]Tallula[/name] [name]Malloy[/name]. I’m not usually a fan of unisex names on girls, but [name]Rowan[/name] is an exception.

[name]Rowan[/name] definately.
[name]Tallula[/name] makes my think of the yellow bird in [name]Maisie[/name] Mouse.

I’m happy to see the support for [name]Rowan[/name]. I just think it works so much better with my son, [name]Lachlan[/name] [name]Munroe[/name]!
