Revisiting an old favorite and can’t decide which way to use the combo… [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] (original combo), [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], or Rhys with something else? Last name would be Muncy. I love the [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] combo with potential nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u], but I also love [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] as a first name. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not sure I love [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and can’t think of another middle I really like with [name_u]Rhys[/name_u].
Thoughts?
I like the flow of [name_u]Rosen[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] more even though I prefer [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] as a first name.

@shells15 That’s kinda of where I am, as well. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] flows better, but [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] is edging out [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] softly for me right now. [name_m]Just[/name_m] can’t find a [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] combo I like.

I do like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] much better than [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] - the flow is just off there. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Reid[/name_u]?

Love [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] Muncy sounds better than when I just say [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. [name_m]How[/name_m] many times would you just say the first two names without the surname?
How about
Rhys [name_u]Rosen[/name_u]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Owen[/name_u]

@sarahjane1 I agree, Rhys Rowan Muncy does sound better as a whole than Rhys Rowan. Normally, I would also agree that you won’t say just the first and middle name much, but we actually use our daughter’s first and middle name together all the time. We never had any intention to do so. It just happened. So I’m more conscious of how just the first and
middle names sound together now. haha And thank you for the suggestions! I like Rhys Owen and Rhys Theodore. I so want to love Rhys John (John is the only honor name my husband and I would ever consider using), but I’m not a fan of two one syllable names back to back.
@BabyVSNeedsAName Thanks for the suggestions! I really like Rhys Wilder.
@katinka Rhys Elliot and Rhys Gabriel are lovely. And Rhys Oliver!
Oliver is a favorite of mine, but I hate how popular it has become. Don’t know why I didn’t think to pair it with Rhys. Thank you! I love the look of Rhys Alistair, too, but Alistair is a weird one for Americans in the US to pronounce properly. It somehow just doesn’t sound as nice in an American accent. haha
@Greyblue Thanks for the suggestions! I like Rhys Killian and Rhys Jupiter, though I’m not sure if I’m brave enough to use a middle name that unusual (very, for the family and friend group we have). I also really like the way Rhys Malachi sounds, but Children of the Corn 100% ruined Malachi for me, sad to say.

I’d personally not focus so much on the flow of the name as 99% of the time people will only be using the first name not both names anyway so pick which name you prefer as a first name
As a word of warning, if popularity bothers you, rowan is getting extremely popular and rocketing up the charts * at the same time * as other extremely similar names such as [name_m]Roman[/name_m] (with an M). There’s 2 [name_m]Roman[/name_m]’s and a female RoWan at our local nursery so it does get confusing , and what used to be a fairly unusual name is now very run of the mill. I’ve never met a [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] but meet RoWan/RoMan and [name_u]Rohan[/name_u]’s Ronans quite a bit.
I did consider [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] for my daughter but popularity put me off as well as the inevitable shortening to Row which I didn’t like The sound of
@MissHenty Thanks for the feedback! I get that flow generally isn’t that important because the names aren’t usually said together. However, without even meaning to do so, we found ourselves using our daughter’s first and middle name together all the time. We call her by both far more than we call her by just her first name, so flow is more important to me than some. Also, I do keep an eye on name popularity and it makes more of a difference to me if a name is popular where we are than super popular overall. Currently, [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is not very popular where we are, so we’re still considering it. =]
@ChelsAnne22 ah right yes see what you’re saying
That’s nice you use your daughter’s first and middle name
!
I suppose there’s a chance that once they get older the majority of their friends won’t do that, so “[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]” just becomes “[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]” and ultimately “Row” the majority of the time.
If there’s no hyphen between the first two names then it might be difficult, for example, on the first day of a new job when people start calling you by your first name, to then say “no I go by two names”. I’m quite shy so I’d find that awkward but that’s probably just me.
I notice [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is on a big upswing for girls and boys both in US and other countries like UK. that’s good it’s not happened in your precise location yet though.
Never met a [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] though.
Best of luck deciding!

@MissHenty Most people call our daughter by only her first name. At home, we default to both for some reason. haha [name_m]Just[/name_m] has a great flow and sounds nice to use both. That being said, we don’t know for sure we’d do that with other kids. We aren’t into nicknames, so I know we wouldn’t shorten [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] to Row, but I could see how people would. I’d probably leave that up to [name_u]Future[/name_u] [name_m]Son[/name_m] if he wanted to stop people calling him Row or not. And yes, it is growing in popularity in the US, which is where we are, just not in our state yet. I definitely don’t love how popular it’s getting for girls. Overall, I love the way [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] sounds, but since posting this, I’ve really taken a liking to [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] as a first name and it may have edged [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] out. It’s uncommon, particularly here, but not unheard of.
