[name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u], 3 beautiful nature names and all unisex now. I love them all and cannot choose one from another without a feeling of guilty… Please help me! Talk about the impression (of which on girls or boys are all welcome =]) you get from them, and the history each of them carried. =]
BTW I would love to hear about their rankings in Australia…
Thanks a lot for your time!
I would say [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is more a name given to girls where as rohan or rowen is a boy name.
[name_u]River[/name_u] is a boy name to me & [name_u]Robin[/name_u]/[name_f]Robyn[/name_f] a girls name.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps you.
I consider them all to be boys’ names.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] - boys, could be girls.
[name_u]River[/name_u] - this one has gone to all the bad-ass, Sci-Fi girls
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] - boys.
All three are great! I see your dilemma in choosing one.
1 [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] - my favourite on your list. Still a boys name but more parents are choosing it for girls so I don’t know how long it has as a male name before parents avoid it for their sons. I prefer it on a boy myself.
2 [name_u]Robin[/name_u] - I have a female cousin named [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and there is Robin Hood, [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] of “[name_f]Winnie[/name_f] the Pooh” fame and [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] the female singer so it can see it on either gender. Not a big fan.
2 [name_u]River[/name_u] - mainly a boys name. It’s not a fave. I want to break out in song “Cry Me a [name_u]River[/name_u]”. Tragic actor [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] adds to the downside for me.
I laughed so hard at this!
Anyhoo, I like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] the best from your list. [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is dated and [name_u]River[/name_u]…well, you saw what [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] said.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] I see as a boys name.
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] I see as more unisex, but I lean towards a girls name. Not a huge fan of this name.
[name_u]River[/name_u] could go either way for me, but my instinct says its more of a girly name… I think it is one of those names that needs to be on the right person though… I don’t know if that makes sense, but I would love [name_u]River[/name_u] on the right type of girl (or boy!)
The first time I’d heard of [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] was in a book, and she was a girl, so it’s always felt more like a ladies’ name to me.
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] I think of [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood, and he’s obviously male, but the only real-life [name_u]Robin[/name_u] I know is a woman. Funnily enough both female [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] were redheads.
With [name_u]River[/name_u] I think of [name_u]River[/name_u] Song (a character on the British sci-fi show [name_m]Doctor[/name_m] Who), who is a BAMF woman. I adore the name [name_u]River[/name_u] for girls, as I always get pleasant imagery of rushing rivers and it has cool connotations.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is completely unisex to me. [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is also unisex, and while I’ve heard it more on girls I like the idea of it on a boy a lot. [name_u]River[/name_u] feels feminine to me because of [name_u]River[/name_u] Song and [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Tam[/name_m].
All three to me are truly unisex, although I think I would be delighted to see [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] & [name_u]Robin[/name_u] on boys, because around here I never do. [name_u]River[/name_u], on the other hand, I would love to see on a girl : )
I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] - it’s probably the only name that I sincerely like on both boys and girls.
Hmm…
See the appeal in all these names!!
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] for unisex and I honesty love on both boys and girls equally. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] works for both sexes. [name_u]River[/name_u] for me is a boy’s name it just suits boys and flows more naturally on a boy. As does [name_u]Robin[/name_u] in my eyes. In my country [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] is used for girls and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is used more stereotypically for boys. [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is just so cute for a boy and whenever I think of the name I always think it’s sad that this name is getting increased use for girls. I’d much prefer [name_u]Robin[/name_u] for a boy furthermore whenever I think of [name_u]Robin[/name_u] I think of [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood, [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Williams[/name_m], and lastly the gorgeous [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Thicke. For me [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is all boy!! The only one which feels incredibly unisex is [name_u]Rowan[/name_u].
Unfortunately I don’t know about about the rankings in Australia.
Thank you everyone!
All three of these work best on boys, IMHO. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Wren[/name_f], [name_f]Russet[/name_f], [name_u]Rue[/name_u], [name_f]Oriel[/name_f], [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], or [name_f]Arcadia[/name_f]?
If I met a sibset named [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] & [name_u]Robin[/name_u], I’d think ‘awesome’.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is all boy to me. I know some like it for girls but I can’t stand it. It’s also become trendy for girls.
[name_u]River[/name_u] leans masculine but I also love it for girls.
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] is truly unisex to me however it feels a bit dated for a girl. In the US it peaked in the 60s and has been dropping ever since. Although that could make it a fresh choice now
Personally, I would choose [name_u]River[/name_u] but [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is a close second. [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is more of an ‘acceptable’ choice due to its softness and history. There’s also a sophistication about it since all of the female [name_m]Robins[/name_m] I know are adults with white collar careers. I’ve never met a [name_u]Robin[/name_u] under 30. [name_u]River[/name_u] is very wordy, not feminine-sounding, and still has a hippie connotation. I like that about [name_u]River[/name_u] but not everyone will.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]: Completely unisex to me I only know a boy [name_u]Rohan[/name_u] but I have seem female [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]'s on the internet
[name_u]Robin[/name_u]: I only know a girl [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] but at the moment [name_u]Robin[/name_u] makes me want to sing blurred lines because of how popular it is.
[name_u]River[/name_u]: This reminds me of a store we have in Australia [name_m]Rivers[/name_m] which sells some really bad stuff. I do kinda like it on either sex though.
Sorry to not be too helpful.
