I like [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] but I prefer [name_f]Rowenna[/name_f] to make the pronunciation “Ro-enna” and less “Ro-wee-nah” (which is how [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is typically pronounced).
I’m quite liking [name_f]Ravenna[/name_f] and [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] as well. With [name_f]Rowenna[/name_f], I get romantic, forthright, welsh countryside, magical, witchy / slightly goth vibes.
I think of the character from [name_m]Ivanhoe[/name_m]—so very princessy, lacy, romantic, with a gentle strength, like a medieval [name_f]Doris[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u] vibe, or maybe [name_f]Cinderella[/name_f] in the classic [name_f]Disney[/name_f] movie.
I love (and default to) the ro-ee-nah pronunciation.
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] feels very magical and witchy vibes to me. As Ro-ee-nuh, I get autumnal, earthy vibes. I’m also reminded of the Supernatural character, so there’s a feisty, fiery, no nonsense side too.
I do prefer Ro-enn-uh spelt as [name_f]Rowenna[/name_f] for clarity (one of my faves at one point), because I adore -enna endings and it feels somewhat lighter and softer. Still strong, magical, and substantial but more wintery and cool. There’s a subtle, underlying power that’s less in your face than [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] (if that makes sense ).
assumed would be Row-ween-ah
Exactly this:
Beautiful, refined, historical-sounding name!
I always want to say Ro-wen-uh but I know it should be Ro-een-uh?
Either way, it feels woodsy and cool
Ro-wee-nuh for me
I prefer [name_f]Ro[/name_f]- WEN- ah and think spelling the name [name_f]Rowenna[/name_f] takes the confusion away.
Makes me think of blue silk (Ravenclaw) and stacks of books and the starry night sky. It’s a lovely name!
