Royal Baby

William and Harry both have four names indeed.
Beatrice, Eugenie, Peter and Zara all have three names, but that is because they’re minor royals.
All of the Queen’s four children have four names.

Alexander is a nice name and it would be a great tribute to Scotland.
Likewise Matilda would be a great homage to Australia and although I think they’ll go more traditional, it would be really cool with a Queen Matilda (who isn’t a Queen Consort that is).

I thought there was a [name]Queen[/name] [name]Matilda[/name] of [name]England[/name] at some point…?

([name]Empress[/name]) [name]Matilda[/name] was the only surviving, legitimate child of [name]King[/name] [name]Henry[/name] I of [name]England[/name]. She didn’t succeed her father but married her father’s heir, her cousin [name]Stephen[/name] of Blois. She acquired the title of [name]Empress[/name] through her first marriage to the Holy [name]Roman[/name] Emperor, [name]Henry[/name] V who died after eleven years of marriage. Thus, she was never a [name]Queen[/name] of [name]England[/name] in her own right, “only” a [name]Queen[/name] Consort.

I’M SO EXCITED! (probably an unhealthy amount, oops)

For a boy, I’m sure there’ll be an [name]Arthur[/name] in there somewhere, considering it’s one of the traditionally given names. I’d love it as a first name, tbh, and a [name]King[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] would be freakin’ awesome, just quietly c; I’d guess either [name]Charles[/name] or [name]Philip[/name] will make at least one, if not two of the middle names, and while it’d be awesome to have [name]Henry[/name] in there for ol’ [name]Harry[/name], I doubt it will. [name]Louis[/name] would also be sweet. I like a lot of ‘royal’ boys’ names, so I’m kind of hoping it’s a boy just for the name, ehehe.

I highly doubt, should it be a daughter, there’ll be [name]Diana[/name] in there anyway, as the [name]Queen[/name]. [name]Just[/name] no. Besides, I personally think it’d be kind of weird for [name]Wills[/name] to have a daughter with the same name as his mother, especially so non-traditional etc, but maybe that’s just me. [name]Alice[/name] or [name]Victoria[/name] would be nice, since they’re both a throwback to history and quite ~reasonable for this day and age. Would [name]LOVE[/name] an [name]Eleanor[/name] c: [name]Elizabeth[/name], being both the current [name]Queen[/name]'s name, the [name]Queen[/name] Mother’s name (and we all know how much [name]William[/name] loved her) and [name]Kate[/name]'s middle name, will almost certainly be thrown in there, yes?

So anyway, here are my ~guesses for names, now watch me be wrong ;D

[name]Arthur[/name] [name]Philip[/name] [name]Charles[/name] [name]Richard[/name]
[name]Louis[/name] [name]Albert[/name] [name]Frederick[/name] [name]Edward[/name]
[name]George[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Henry[/name]

[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Mary[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Alice[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Anne[/name]

I can’t think of other possible names for boys than [name]George[/name], [name]Arthur[/name] or [name]Albert[/name]. I would have loved a little [name]James[/name], but that name definitely is off the list (at least as a first name). [name]Arthur[/name] is my favourite, but I think they might go with [name]George[/name] for a boy.

I’d love a [name]Margaret[/name] or an [name]Alexandra[/name] for a girl. Or a [name]Mary[/name].

I would really love to see something like [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Diana[/name]. [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] are also really cute names for our future [name]Queen[/name]. But then there is always [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Victoria[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name]. Very traditional royal names.

For boys, I would love to see [name]Alfred[/name] ([name]Alfie[/name]) [name]Edward[/name] or [name]Louis[/name] (yes I know its french but its one of prince [name]Williams[/name] middle names)
[name]Bree[/name]

There will probably be [name]Diana[/name] in the girl combo, for sure! I’ll be very suprised if it isnt! Something like [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Diana[/name] or [name]Alice[/name] like everyone is saying would be so cute but would fit in well with the ‘royal names’

I don’t know if this is true but someone said on twitter

‘[name]Kate[/name] Middleton said that if the baby is a boy, then it will have a popular british name, I can’t wait to meet baby [name]Mohammed[/name]’

I had to laugh.

I hope it’s not true though, it will be really disappointing if they name it something typical like [name]Jacob[/name] when they could easily pull of something better like [name]Arthur[/name] or [name]Alfred[/name].

I’m in two minds. While I’d [name]LOVE[/name] to have a [name]King[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] on the throne, I’d also like to have a son named [name]Arthur[/name] and I don’t want to share his name with anyone else! [name]Even[/name] if my [name]Arthur[/name] is a hypothetical [name]Arthur[/name] I’m also divided if I want a girl to share her name with a family member ([name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Diana[/name], the obvious choices) or to be the “first” in her family to have it (when’s the last time they had an [name]Alice[/name] or [name]Mary[/name]?)

My predictions:

[name]Alexander[/name] [name]Henry[/name] [name]George[/name] [name]Charles[/name]
[name]Albert[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Charles[/name] [name]Phillip[/name]

[name]Diana[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Mary[/name]
[name]Alexandrina[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Mary[/name]

My predictions are:

[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]

or

[name]Arthur[/name] [name]Philip[/name] [name]Henry[/name] [name]Spencer[/name]
(or maybe [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Philip[/name] [name]Henry[/name] [name]Charles[/name])

I don’t really think we’ll see a [name]Diana[/name], at least not as a first name. I just think it may be too much too soon. And since a girl could inherit the throne, I can’t really see the [name]Queen[/name] getting on board with a future [name]Queen[/name] [name]Diana[/name]. SHe was a wondeful woman, but there was so much sadness associated with her that I don’t think it’ll make it into that first name spot. I would, however, love to see it as a middle name, and I have no doubt that we will.

I don’t think we’ll see a [name]Victoria[/name] either. Again, that is a lot of baggage to pass on to a little girl. Of course, many names that are in consideration come with baggage, especially the ones associated with famous (or infamous) monarchs.

Personally, I would love to see a little [name]Matilda[/name]. It pays homage to [name]Queen[/name] [name]Matilda[/name], the daughter of [name]Henry[/name] I, and the first female ruler of [name]England[/name]. That is certainly appropriate for the first little girl who could inherit the throne ahead of any possible brothers. Another [name]Queen[/name] [name]Matilda[/name] was the wife of [name]King[/name] [name]Stephen[/name].

I would not be surprised to see [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Diana[/name] and [name]Victoria[/name] in a middle name spot. I also like [name]Alice[/name] - it is a traditional name that has a more modern, whimsical feel to it.

Matlida [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Alice[/name]

For a boy, I like both [name]Alfred[/name] and [name]Frederick[/name]. [name]Alfred[/name] brings to mind [name]Alfred[/name] the Great, and the adorable nickname [name]ALfie[/name]. [name]Frederick[/name] was the father of [name]George[/name] III and great-grandfather of [name]Queen[/name] [name]Victoria[/name].

For middle names, I would not be surprised to see [name]Arther[/name] - it is a middle name for both [name]William[/name] and [name]Charles[/name]. Other likely possibilities are [name]Philip[/name] - to honor [name]WIlliam[/name]'s grandfather, [name]George[/name] - another traditional favorite, and [name]MIchael[/name] - to honor [name]Kate[/name]'s father.

[name]Frederick[/name] [name]Philip[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] [name]George[/name]

I can’t see them using [name]Charlotte[/name], because [name]William[/name]'s uncle ([name]Diana[/name]'s brother) and his wife named their baby daughter (born in [name]July[/name]) [name]Charlotte[/name], and while it’s the “other side” of the family, well it’s still a family name that has only recently been used.

[name]Alexander[/name] or [name]Margaret[/name] would be lovely tributes to [name]Scotland[/name].

He even called her ‘[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Diana[/name]’, so that’s a pretty unlikely combo too.

Oh I wasn’t aware her middle name was [name]Diana[/name], so yes absolutely, that makes it even more unlikely.

I would love to see them use [name]Margaret[/name] (not biased - honest!) which has been the name of queen consorts in [name]England[/name] and [name]Scotland[/name], but never the ruling monarch (unless you count [name]Margaret[/name] of [name]Scotland[/name], who was only a child, and her “reign” is disputed and often excluded from history books, as she was never crowned at Scone). I think a ruling [name]Queen[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] is lacking from the history books.

Actually I think I recall hearing that a little [name]Margaret[/name] would be [name]Queen[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] II because [name]Margaret[/name] of [name]Scotland[/name] would be counted in. It’s such a beautiful name and I think it would be a wonderful homage to [name]Princess[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] also.

Thank you blade my thoughts exactly.

rollo

Oh that’s handy to know.

I think it’s one of those things historians are divided one, some don’t count her, others do. However, if officially she is counted, then that’s great.

[name]Queen[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] II - I like that!

A girls name could be anything - they won’t have the pressure to pick a “regnal” name, only a “royal” one. I doubt the [name]Queen[/name] will let them use their own name as the first name - she’s known to be a modest person. Personaly I would love [name]Cecily[/name] - utterly English, traditional, and it’s a family name, too (that of The [name]Queen[/name]'s grandmother and [name]Prince[/name] [name]Philips[/name]'s sister). I just hope they don’t use [name]Isabella[/name] - it’s the same name as [name]Elizabeth[/name] and it would cause problems with the numbering ([name]Isabella[/name] is written “[name]Elisabeth[/name]” in Latin; and the [name]Queen[/name] is [name]Isabel[/name] II in many countries).

I’m convinced a boy will be [name]George[/name]. I’d love [name]John[/name] - [name]Prince[/name] [name]Jack[/name] - but I doubt they would be allowed to use it.

They won’t use [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Albert[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]James[/name], [name]Edward[/name], [name]Charles[/name], [name]Philip[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Spencer[/name], [name]Anne[/name], [name]Alexandra[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Louise[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], or [name]Diana[/name] as first names: they’re either taken by close family members or are “forbidden” for regnal names. I wish people realised that a [name]Queen[/name] [name]Diana[/name] would be a slap on the face of the [name]Queen[/name] and [name]Prince[/name] [name]Philip[/name] - and [name]William[/name] isn’t that close to the Spencers (and [name]Spencer[/name] isn’t seen as a “proper [name]Christian[/name] name”, really).

[name]One[/name] think I would love to see was a nice Welsh / Cornish / Scottish name included. I loved how the little Danish royal twins have Faroesan middle names.

I think we could have the kid be known publically as a nickname name - like [name]Harry[/name] and [name]Kate[/name]. I could see a [name]Princess[/name] [name]Mary[/name] known as [name]Princess[/name] [name]May[/name] (like The [name]Queen[/name]'s late grandmother), or a even a [name]Prince[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Jr[/name]. known as [name]Liam[/name].

Taking in consideration that the little [name]Prince[/name] or [name]Princess[/name], though not in the same generation as them, probably will reign at the same time as a lot of today’s heirs of heirs (whereas he or she will be the heir of the heir of the heir), to avoid confusion (that goes for girls names in particular, seeing as [name]Prince[/name] [name]Christian[/name] of Denmark currently is the only boy heir in that generation) they might avoid names like [name]Elizabeth[/name] ([name]Princess[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] of Belgium), [name]Catherine[/name] or [name]Amelia[/name] ([name]Princess[/name] [name]Catharina[/name]-[name]Amalia[/name] of the Netherlands), [name]Eleanor[/name] (Infanta [name]Leonor[/name] of Spain) or [name]Christian[/name] (the before-mentioned [name]Prince[/name] [name]Christian[/name] of Denmark).

As I posted in the other thread…
[name]Diana[/name] would not be allowed as the throne has to approve the baby’s name (since she may one day be queen) and [name]Queen[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] didn’t like [name]Princess[/name] [name]Diana[/name].
I think [name]William[/name] would still want to honour his mother, so my suggestion is [name]Frances[/name] ([name]Diana[/name]’s MN).

My pick is…
[name]Victoria[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name]

For a boy:
I think [name]Philip[/name] (after [name]Wills[/name] Grandfather) is a likely contender and [name]Arthur[/name] ([name]Wills[/name] second name). Most likely [name]Charles[/name] after his father and though it’s unlikely, I think [name]Spencer[/name] after his mother (her madien name) is a great option.

[name]Philip[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Spencer[/name] [name]Charles[/name]

I’m guessing if it’s a girl that they would go with [name]Diana[/name]. If not up front, then at least in the middle. For all those saying that [name]Queen[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] wouldn’t allow that, I think she learned her lesson from interfering in [name]Prince[/name] [name]Charles[/name]'s life and isn’t so controlling with [name]William[/name] and [name]Harry[/name]. [name]William[/name] lived with his wife before marriage and there was no public statement of [name]Kate[/name]‘s virginity prior to marriage (unlike [name]Diana[/name]), so obviously she’s not holding [name]William[/name] to the same standards as she did [name]Charles[/name] (or bossing him around as much, however you choose to look at it). Also, [name]Prince[/name] [name]William[/name] is pretty devoted to his mother and if [name]Queen[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] didn’t let him name his own daughter after her, he’d probably just abdicate (because honestly, it’s not like the royals are going to leave him penniless or anything) and if that happens, the next in line is [name]Harry[/name] (good ol’ Nazi imitating, pot smoking, naked partying, possibly illegitimate [name]Harry[/name]) and somehow, I doubt [name]Queen[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] would be in favor of that.

In all honestly, I’m hoping that they name the baby something absolutely modern and trendy (like [name]Jayden[/name]), just because I would find that extremely entertaining.
