Ok guys this doesn’t really have much to do with names but I’m asking anyway. How would a royal governess address the prince or princess, especially when they are young children? Would it be their name or “your highness”? Maybe a combination of both?
Your highness makes more sense to me.
Maybe prince/princess first name? Such as princess [name_u]Maria[/name_u]? Though if in public it would probably be your highness.
I think if you provide an explanation, I wouldn’t bat an eye either way. Maybe the governess and the kids were super close, like she was their second mother, and so she calls them by their first names when they’re alone. Maybe the governess is an ex-military wife and uses the proper address no matter the circumstance because she’s strict and no-nonsense.
I think ‘your highness’ is most likely, unless they have been the family governess for a long time, in which their names might work too.
If speaking directly to them, probably “your highness”. Speaking about them, they would be referred to as as the [name_m]Prince[/name_m]/Princess.
