Now I need your opinions on the ‘Rrrrr’ names in my list!
What do you think of the following names?
Which are usuable first names? Middles only? Unusable?
Can you suggest similar names which I may like?

[name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] (I think it’s a great alternative to [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] if you feel like it’s getting too popular.)
[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] (Hard to pull off, but usable.)
As a middle name
[name_m]Isadore[/name_m] (Too much teasing potential.)
[name_m]Mortimer[/name_m] (Reminds me of The Sims.)
Fredegar (Feels like [name_m]Fred[/name_m] + [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] smoosh.)
Rudigar (Feels like [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] + [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] smoosh.)
Unusable
Erebor (Sorry, I understand you like it, but I absolutely can’t picture it on a child, even as a middle.)
Mithrandir (Verrry complicated.)
I can never decide between the [name_m]Isadore[/name_m]/[name_m]Isidore[/name_m] spelling, but I lean towards the ‘a’ spelling as it is the title of a song I love.

[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is DH’s name
I like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] but it is unusable for me due to a past association.
I really like [name_m]Lysander[/name_m], [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Leander[/name_m] and [name_m]Salvador[/name_m] but none of them quite enough to make the list.
Meriwether is fantastic but it does remind me of the fairy from Sleeping Beauty…
I love [name_m]Rainier[/name_m]! That may have to go on the list!
[name_m]Whittaker[/name_m] has very bad personal associations for me.
None of the others really stand out.
I’m glad to see you think some of the more obscure names have potential!
[name_m]Mortimer[/name_m] makes me think of The Sims too, but if I push that association aside, I do think it’s a great sounding name! Its meaning doesn’t really bother me.
Completely understand your reaction to Erebor and Mithrandir! I would never really use Mithrandir on a child, but I can’t bear to remove him from my GP list!

I like [name_m]Isadore[/name_m], [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m], [name_m]Tolliver[/name_m], [name_m]Victor[/name_m] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] from your list, and find them the most usable. I find [name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] more usable than Erebor, to be honest.
I know a female [name_m]Rainier[/name_m], and since it has always struck me as feminine.
I really like [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Casper[/name_m], [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m], and [name_m]Tolliver[/name_m]. [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] does sound a little like a farmer to me but I still think it has charm. I like Mithrandir too but don’t see it as a fn – I can’t really talk though as Faramir and Theoden are on my GP list!
Yeah I know, a lot of those are out there too – I just tried to pull names from lists that ended in r and weren’t mentioned yet. And some random names with a strong r sound:

Not sure if you’re in the U.S. or not, but if so then I think [name_m]Mortimer[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], and Erebor (no idea how to pronounce this) aren’t usable.
I have cousins with the last name [name_m]Tolliver[/name_m], so I can really only see it as a last name or possibly as a middle name.
[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] on the other hand I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] as a first name, and I would be thrilled to meet a [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m]!
I like the suggestion of [name_m]Rainier[/name_m], [name_m]Casimir[/name_m], and [name_m]Asher[/name_m]. I would also add [name_u]River[/name_u].
I’m surprised but encouraged by the [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] love!!
