Ruby and Max?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!

Looking for your help again… we had our baby girl in 2022 and after all the struggle we ended up naming her [name_f]Ruby[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]!

Well now we’re having a baby boy in [name_f]April[/name_f] and the only name my husband and I love right now is [name_m]Max[/name_m]. At first I thought [name_m]Max[/name_m] and [name_f]Ruby[/name_f] wouldn’t work because of the popularity of the show/books but maybe it’s not that big of a deal? At least it’s a positive association. They also have a 9 year old brother named [name_m]Miles[/name_m]. Should it be a dealbreaker? Maybe the show will be all people think of… I’m torn.

We also like [name_m]Arlo[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Finn[/name_m], [name_m]Corbin[/name_m], [name_m]Sullivan[/name_m] and [name_m]Hank[/name_m] it’s just none of them seem to be an automatic yes like [name_m]Max[/name_m] would be.

I personally would think of the show. Would a [name_m]Max[/name_m] alternative work

[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] ( Wells)
[name_m]Maximillian[/name_m]
[name_m]Matt[/name_m]

It would be nice to not repeat initials.

Mile$, RubY and……
[name_m]Corbin[/name_m]. - [name_m]Cory[/name_m]
[name_m]Cole[/name_m]
[name_m]Colin[/name_m]
[name_m]Nico[/name_m]
[name_m]Tate[/name_m]
[name_m]Dean[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_m]Zach[/name_m]
[name_m]Zeke[/name_m]
[name_m]Eben[/name_m]
[name_m]Flynn[/name_m]
[name_m]Fintan[/name_m] - [name_m]Finn[/name_m]
[name_m]Phineas[/name_m]
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m] - [name_m]Gus[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Phelan[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Chase[/name_m]
[name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Foster[/name_m]
[name_m]Ford[/name_m]
[name_m]Carter[/name_m]
[name_m]Carson[/name_m]
[name_m]Nolan[/name_m]
[name_m]Tucker[/name_m]

Good luck. If you are stet on [name_m]Max[/name_m], you might consider [name_m]Mac[/name_m] instead……or a name that uses [name_m]Mac[/name_m] as a nickname, [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], [name_m]Cormac[/name_m], etc.

I don’t think it’s a deal breaker, if it’s the name you love!

I would definitely think of the show, but I don’t think it’s a big deal especially since there’s a third sibling. If you love [name_m]Max[/name_m], use it!

I’ve never heard of that show! I don’t think it’s a big deal and Miles, Ruby, and Max go together very well! You could use a longer form of Max like Maxwell or Maximilian so you wouldn’t have the exact name. If someone asked about the show, you could just be firm about pointing out the reasons you chose the name.

I’ve never heard of the show (bear in mind though that I’m probably out of touch with kids’ shows these days) - and I have met sibs called [name_m]Max[/name_m] and [name_f]Ruby[/name_f]. They feel like a familiar, well suited set.

Again though, I don’t know the show. Is it still one that runs/shows? If you asked [name_m]Miles[/name_m], would he think of it? If you asked friends with kids Ruby’s age and a little older, would they recognise it?

Regardless, [name_f]Ruby[/name_f] and [name_m]Max[/name_m] are familiar enough they don’t feel tied to one show imo, especially with another sib in the set!

I’m not familiar with the show but love [name_m]Miles[/name_m], [name_f]Ruby[/name_f], and [name_m]Max[/name_m]. I like the suggestion of using a longer form such as [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] with nn [name_m]Max[/name_m] if it bothers you but use what you love! Not a big deal at all and it would be unfortunate if you felt you had a choose a name you don’t love as much because of the show and especially a positive one.

Firstly love your daughter’s name and hugest congratulations on your baby boy :tada:

Now as a parent I did immediately think of the TV show I’m also not overly keen on repeated initials so if it was me I wouldn’t go with Max. Still that’s just my thoughts ultimately Max is a great name and has that laid back classic feel of your older children’s names.

Looking at your other options Finn jumped out at me as a great option. Finn is handsome, soft and sounds sweet with R.uby & M1les. I also like Jack and Arlo they are sweet timeless choices of a similar vibe to the kiddos.

You’ve had lots of lovely suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries

R.uby, M1les and…

Cormac ~ I feel like this name makes a great alternative to Max.
Toby/Tobias
Elliott
Samson
Abel
Jonah
Silas
Callum
Elijah
Isaac
Otto
Oscar
Jasper
Henry
Arthur
Tristan
Jude

I also think using a longer version of Max would take away that associate a little and Maxwell does fit nicely.

Hope this helps

I honestly don’t get why it’d be a problem! As kids, I bet the connection to a beloved children’s cartoon would be something they both find sweet. And when they’re older they probably won’t care, and with another sibling in the mix, most people wouldn’t even make the connection.

[name_m]Max[/name_m] is an awesome name!
Your children have amazing names, by the way.
I’ve never seen that show or heard of those books, but I don’t think that a children’s animated series is a bad association or a deal breaker.
If you love the name [name_m]Max[/name_m], go with it! I think [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Sullivan[/name_m] would be a very handsome name, if you don’t have a middle name in mind already.

I think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Finn[/name_m] are great ideas for your third child as well. I would like to suggest [name_m]Maverick[/name_m] nn [name_m]Mack[/name_m] or Mav.

Thank you! I like [name_m]Corbin[/name_m], [name_m]Fintan[/name_m] and [name_m]Cormac[/name_m]!

Good point about asking the kids if they recognize it! And I think it’s stopped running now, but relatively recently.

I would definitely think of the show, but like you said, it isn’t a negative association. Moreover, I think the show is fading out of memory for many people.

For what it is worth, I know a couple named [name_m]Max[/name_m] & [name_f]Ruby[/name_f]. It hasn’t been a huge deal for them.

Thank you!! [name_m]Maxim[/name_m] or [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] could work, but we have a long, three syllable last name so I don’t think I’d want to use [name_m]Maximillian[/name_m]. These are good options though if we decide the [name_m]Max[/name_m] and [name_f]Ruby[/name_f] connection is too strong. Right now, I’m leaning toward ‘in for a penny, in for a pound’ and just going with [name_m]Max[/name_m]. I just love the simplicity with our last name.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I think it’s totally fine! [name_f]Ruby[/name_f] & [name_m]Max[/name_m] isn’t really that popular anymore, is it? And in any case, the bunnies are adorable & charming & there’s a reason the writers named them [name_f]Ruby[/name_f] & [name_m]Max[/name_m]. They’re perfect together.

I love the rest of your list , too. Especially [name_m]Finn[/name_m] & [name_m]Hank[/name_m]. I just wouldn’t do [name_m]Jack[/name_m], because unlike the [name_m]Max[/name_m] & [name_f]Ruby[/name_f], [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_f]Ruby[/name_f] isn’t as nice as an association.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
