I love Ruby but I wondering if it is a bit too 2010s and on the verge of being dated?
You can give me your honest thoughts I won’t be offended.
Do you like Ruby?
I also have a soft spot for Ruby Rose or Ruby-Rose. Is it too much?

It did go through a semi-recent popularity surge, but it’s also a classic enough name and it’s still very popular, so not sure it’s to the “dated” point yet. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] would be too much for me personally, but it has been used many times before, so it’s not too much to everyone.
I love [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is fun majestic name with a bright sparkly vibe a lovely vintage name that personally doesn’t feel dated at all. I really like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and considered [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] for my daughter for a moment but didn’t like with my surname a bit too rockstar with my surname I prefer frilly romantic.
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] I think is a bit too much a bit too wordy but I think a rose name could work something like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] or [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] could be pretty takes away the wordy vibe.
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is pretty classic to me! Definitely not gonna be dated like how some other names might be because of how much usage it’s gotten in the past 100 years. I honestly really like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]! I think it’s super sweet and has the Roaring 20’s edge to it, very sparkly and glamorous and elegant. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] definitely is a bit wordy but I honestly think it’s so dang cute and makes me think of the actress [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] which makes it feel more versatile
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is a lovely name and not dated! I wouldn’t go with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] though. Most baby girls I know have a middle name of [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Plus the initials would be RR?. I think it sounds odd together, but all of this is personal. I would go with a longer middle name because the first name is short - maybe [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_u]Florence[/name_u]
I love a good double name! I’m all for Ruby-Rose or [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]!
I also really like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] on her own. Really pretty name. I’ve never met a [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] before, but I’d totally love to!
I love [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. I don’t think it’s dated at all.
I do think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and especially the double barrel Ruby-Rose, is a bit much. But I love each name individually. If you just adore it, I would leave it as separate first and middle, and let her go by just [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] to most people.
I definitely dont see [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] being “dated” anytime soon. Its still being used, just maybe not at the rate it was 5years ago.
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is nice. It does make me think of [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] the Australian model/actor.
I have heard of the actress but I have never seen her in anything. Seems like the association is strong? I don’t really want people to think I named her after a celebrity.
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] is nice. Is it better?
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] did suddenly shoot up in popularity but I’ve met a number of various ages! [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is sweet and bubbly with a stylish vibe
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is cute!
Unfortunately I feel the association is incredibly strong. It would be enough for me not to use it; I’m not even 100% what they are famous for (actor? model?) and I still made the association immediately.
That said, it depends on where you live and your mileage definitely may vary!
I think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] was dated but it’s one of the names that’s part of the recent trend of revitalizing old names, like [name_u]Hazel[/name_u]. So now it doesn’t feel dated in a bad way, but more like a classic name brought back to life.
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] instantly makes me think of the actress. She was in [name_u]Orange[/name_u] in the [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_m]Black[/name_m] which was a super popular show a few years ago. Unfortunately I do think it would be strange to use this name now.
I don’t think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is dated at all. I actually think of it as a timeless classic with a spunky vintage edge.
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] I don’t love quite as much though. I think of the Australian model/actress, which is fine but it just feels less, I don’t know… sophisticated or something?
Someone suggested [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_u]Florence[/name_u], which I think is beautiful. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] is lovely too.
I definitely don’t think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is dated. It’s on my list too! I am persoNelly not a fan of [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], I think I would like it if [name_f]Rose[/name_f] wasn’t the most common middle name I can think of. I have a friend called [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] Pe@rl if that helps.
I don’t think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is dated. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is too tied to the Australian Actress, especially since in high school I use to watch the Netflix show, [name_u]Orange[/name_u] Is The [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_m]Black[/name_m] and it’s a bit over done. Maybe [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]?
ruby is so pretty, and it’s so timeless, i don’t think it will have that “dated” feel.
however, ruby rose does remind me of the australian model/actor, and i’m afraid that’s a very strong connection. i would assume you named you child after them.
other options like that…
ruby rosaline
ruby rosamund
ruby wildrose
ruby grace
ruby violet
ruby march
ruby faith
ruby diana
ruby cleo
ruby estelle
ruby lara
ruby vivian
ruby florence
ruby vera
ruby tabitha
ruby lyra
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is wonderful! Not dated at all, imo. And I think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is very sweet. For what it’s worth, this thread is the first time I’ve heard of a celebrity by that name.
Thank you all so much also for the lovely combos!
I had genuinely no idea there was such a famous actress named this but i have never watched this show. thanks for pointing it out!
I love [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]! I agree with a PP that it doesn’t feel dated, it feels like a resuscitated classic.
I did think of the actor [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] when I saw your subject line. I have nothing against her but wouldn’t want to seem unoriginal in my name choice so would probably go in another direction. Also the double-red connotations of [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] plus [name_f]Rose[/name_f] aren’t my style.
