Ruby, Luella, Daphne, Marlowe

We are struggling so much with naming our baby girl (due this summer). We’ve come close to agreeing and then one of us falls out of love with the name… impossible! We have a two year old named [name]Wyatt[/name] and our last name starts with S and is as common as you get (5 letters).

Here are our current ideas.

[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Luella[/name] nn. [name]Lulu[/name]
[name]Marlowe[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]

Help!?

The only one I dislike from your list is [name]Luella[/name], I think there are nicer ways to get to [name]Lulu[/name] - [name]Lucille[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Lula[/name], [name]Tallulah[/name], [name]Lusa[/name], [name]Lulita[/name] etc etc. My favourite is [name]Ruby[/name] but I like the other too as well, since you have a common last name maybe something a bit more different, I think [name]Marlowe[/name] and [name]Daphne[/name] fit that bill well. Other ideas for you to consider though: [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Xanthe[/name], [name]Velma[/name], [name]Willa[/name], [name]Jemima[/name], [name]Henrietta[/name], [name]Alicia[/name], [name]Renee[/name], [name]Bonnie[/name], [name]Riley[/name], [name]Frederique[/name], [name]Xenia[/name], [name]Jacqueline[/name], [name]Nicolette[/name], [name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Scout[/name], [name]Rachael[/name], [name]Karena[/name], [name]Ramona[/name]?

My fav from your list is [name]Daphne[/name], but I’d consider [name]Luella[/name] too, since [name]Lulu[/name] is so cute!
I like the previous poster’s suggestion of [name]Willa[/name].
Other suggestions (if you’re still looking for ideas…): [name]Cora[/name], [name]Clara[/name], [name]Phoebe[/name], [name]Nadine[/name], [name]Cassidy[/name], [name]Olive[/name], [name]Mara[/name], [name]Esme[/name], [name]Diana[/name], [name]Rosa[/name], [name]Edith[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Jessie[/name]

I really love [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Luella[/name] (lulu) together! I like [name]Ruby[/name] too but it’s very popular where I live (top 5!) [name]Marlowe[/name] is trendy at the mo [name]IMO[/name] and I’m bit a fan of [name]Daphne[/name] with your sons name…

I love [name]Luella[/name] with [name]Wyatt[/name]. All of the names are beautiful, but [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Lulu[/name] are too perfect to pass up!

I like [name]Daphne[/name]. What about [name]Lucille[/name]?

I really like [name]Daphne[/name] and [name]Luella[/name]. I don’t know why, but I’ve just started to really fall for [name]Luella[/name] myself. I have [name]Eulalie[/name]/[name]Eulalia[/name] (family name) on my list with the possible nn [name]Lula[/name] or [name]Lulu[/name]. [name]Daphne[/name] is is a long time love.

I love the name [name]Ruby[/name], but with [name]Wyatt[/name], I love [name]Marlowe[/name]!

Another vote of [name]Marlowe[/name]- such a cute name!

I really dislike [name]Marlowe[/name]… So trendy!

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Daphne[/name] or [name]Luella[/name]. I even love ruby, but find it to be much more popular

I really like [name]Ruby[/name] and I think it’s lovely with [name]Wyatt[/name].

[name]Wyatt[/name] is a very versatile name that goes well with many styles but it depends on what you’re looking for in a girls name. What you name your children often influences any future choices. [name]Do[/name] you want classic and strong, frilly and feminine or boyish and unisex for your girl? Here are my thoughts on your list.

[name]Ruby[/name] - spunk and sass but more popular than any of the others on your list. There may be other Rubys out there who share your common surname.

[name]Luella[/name] - girly and Southern. I do like [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Luella[/name] together as they share a bit of a country twang.

[name]Marlowe[/name] - trendy unisex surname. I prefer this in the middle spot. If you plan on having more children, would you be willing to continue the unisex trend with your daughters? I do love [name]Margot[/name] though.

[name]Daphne[/name] - I love this mythological name. It has style and vitality.

Faves in Order: [name]Luella[/name], [name]Daphne[/name], [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Marlowe[/name].

[name]Wyatt[/name] & [name]Luella[/name] sound perfect together. Like the above poster said, they’ve got a “country twang” going on. [name]Wyatt[/name] & [name]Marlowe[/name] is my second favorite.

[name]Daphne[/name] is the clear front runner out of those options.
With a common last name I would cross off anything too trendy like [name]Ruby[/name] or [name]Marlowe[/name]. And [name]Luella[/name] is just too much for me.

[name]Daphne[/name] is my favorite, followed by [name]Ruby[/name].

[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Luella[/name] was my top choice girl name for this baby until DH vetoed it! I love your choices, and I love the combo of [name]Ruby[/name] with [name]Luella[/name] as a middle name.

I actually really love [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Luella[/name] too  [name]Ruby[/name] is the only name my boyfriend nods his head to, lol. And I think [name]Luella[/name] is precious.

Hmm…
My favourite is [name]Marlowe[/name] I would ditch the ‘e’ though and have [name]Marlow[/name]. [name]Marlowe[/name]/[name]Marlow[/name] seems very southern to be and has a rather cute fresh feel that goes with [name]Wyatt[/name]'s cowboy vibe as well. I personally dislike [name]Ruby[/name] as I find the name unpleasant on the ears, I also dislike [name]Luella[/name] I think [name]Lulu[/name] is a sweet nickname but there are nicer ways to get [name]Lulu[/name] for instance [name]Louise[/name], [name]Louisa[/name] and [name]Tallulah[/name]. I also dislike [name]Daphne[/name] I’ve just never liked her - thus obviously my favourite is [name]Marlow[/name]/[name]Marlowe[/name].

I really love [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Luella[/name], and [name]Daphne[/name]! In general, [name]Daphne[/name] is by far my favorite–it’s so charming and classic. [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Daphne[/name] are sweet together, but I like [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] more as sibling set (and [name]Bea[/name] and Roo are adorable). And I like [name]Luella[/name] best for its nn potential–[name]Lulu[/name] and [name]Ella[/name] are so cute. The first time I heard [name]Luella[/name] used, a man was naming his daughter after his grandma. The story of how the little girl got her name was so cute, and I’ve loved [name]Luella[/name] ever since. I think it’s so sweet. I would love to meet another little [name]Luella[/name]! With your surname, I think that [name]Daphne[/name] and [name]Luella[/name] work slightly better, because they’re more unexpected–they balance out the popularity of your surname.

Good luck!

[name]Marlowe[/name] is an amazing name. [name]Adore[/name] it!
