Is it really bad if first and middle ends in same sound? Like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Mariella[/name_f]? Especially if names don’t have same number of syllables and don’t actually rhyme?
In my opinion it’s perfectly okay. I actually think it can sound really great sometimes. Especially with there being so many -a names around it can be difficult to find names with different endings for every name combination, so as long as it flows well it’s fine, and sometimes just necessary.
I think it’s fine. There are plenty of women named [name_f]Maria[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], for example. The combo won’t sound flat if there are different numbers of syllables.
I remember reading a birth announcement at British [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Names for a girl named [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Maria[/name_f] and finding it gorgeous.
I think it’s absolutely fine unless you do something like [name_f]Mia[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_f]Caterina[/name_f], where both names end in the same two or three last letters.
You always have to remember your last name as well. If it also ends in the same sound, I probably would shy away from a middle name that does, too. Otherwise, you’re perfectly fine!
It doesn’t bother me as a rule. I’m more prone to disliking names that end in one letter and pick up again with that same letter.
Example I dislike:
miA [name_f]Aliyah[/name_f] (too many A’s at the end and beginning)
It really only matters if you like it or not, but I think that names that end in the same sound can go well together. Now, sometimes when it starts to rhyme that can be a little much…but again, as long as you like it then it doesn’t matter what others think.
That’s not a dealbreaker for me unless there’s a possibility of a rhyme. I know a baby named [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f], even though [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] is pronounced [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]-uh-leah, my mind always say [name_u]Nat[/name_u]-uh-lia [name_f]Rose[/name_f]-ah-leah. So I don’t love it the way I should, but repetitive a or e sounds are fine. N is also a problematic sound for boys for me. Names like [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] being brother with [name_u]Logan[/name_u] are really severe -in sounds in my mind. [name_m]Even[/name_m] I know it’s ridiculous!
I don’t like it when names rhyme so the examples given such as [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Mia[/name_f] or [name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_f]Catarina[/name_f] but I know a little girl named [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] and that works fine. I think it just depends on the names you are putting together. I also think a shorter and longer name together often works best, but not in all cases.
I think it depends on the names, the number of syllables, and that they do not rhyme. They can sound lovely together, almost musical.
Thanks ladies!
